Just email it.

(Perhaps the only time locally that a movie has been promoted by a full page newspaper ad.  The Empire Theater, located on the southwest corner of Market and Front Streets, preceded the Marva and Fox Theaters in Pocomoke City. See larger texts below the full ad.)

Today only three original buildings remain standing on the northeast block of Willow Street in Pocomoke City.  Some senior citizens may remember when in the mid 1900's the building at the left was Peoples Food Market; it was Pocomoke's first self-service grocery, later remodeled as Bill's Foodland. The middle building was the Flax Confectionery store with soda fountain, newspapers and magazines, sporting goods, and toys at Christmas time. The single story building at the right was the Pocomoke City radio studio of WBOC, managed by J. Dawson Clarke. Businesses lined most of both sides of Willow Street between Clarke Avenue and Front Street. Included were two car dealerships, a cleaning and dye works company, an appliance store, county liquor dispensary, and telephone company  headquarters where operators were on duty placing local and long distance calls. The One Room School House was moved to its current location at the corner of Front and Willow Streets in the late 1990's when it was restored as a museum.

1971.. Disney World opens in Florida.

1962.. Americans fear nuclear war as The Cuban Missile Crisis develops.
