Riverside Grill At Lunch Time

I finally had time to relax and have an wonderful lunch on Friday  at the Riverside Grill.  My aunt is visiting from Florida for a few weeks so she treated my sister, brother and myself to lunch.  I must tell you first that SHE enjoyed it and even struck up a conversation with the ladies seated at the table next to us.

Lots of local people in for lunch and I was amused at the table of ladies next to us who were there to celebrate a birthday and even brought their own cake!  They were enjoying themselves and that's what it's all about.  It's so nice to see people enjoying themselves especially in a  dowtown restaurant.

And I have to say that after months of walking through a "shell" with a camera it seemed as if the restaurant would never become a reality.  But it did and now the restaurant is here and it's quite apparent that it is being used.  They were busy!  But not too busy to be cordial, polite and quick with service.  Try the crab cakes when you go if you haven't all ready.  We all enjoyed it very much and thank you Corey for taking the photo of the four of us  with my camera.

Thank you to all of you at Riverside Grill and I will be back for another great meal real soon.  Corey, you are doing a wonderful job.  And Aunt Doris, thank you for the lunch!

Another First: Third Friday Art Stroll ~ Downtown Pocomoke City

What a wonderful evening to stroll downtown Pocomoke!  Clear skies, nice breeze, plenty to see and lots of people!  Most of us have always been aware that there are many talented people in and around Pocomoke but Friday night gave so many  the chance to see who these people actually are and how gifted they are at what they do. Whether it's painting, singing,  photography or baking each individual person is greatly talented!

Finally got a chance to visit  "Second Time Around".  Well, they have just about everything you can think of for sale and lots to look at. I saw a few things I would love to have but just have no place to put them.

Jenny Somers had her art work on display and she has always made painting look so easy and so much fun.  Learning to paint is on my 'bucket list', Jenny.  Oh, and I did order a handpainted Christmas tree ornament with the Riverside Grill on it for my tree this year.  Can't wait to see it!

Everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves and a night this always gives you the opportunity to see people you haven't seen in a long time.  We enjoyed immensely.  Stores were filled with people and each one had their share of refreshments!
A team of police officers Pocomoke City can be proud of.
Officer Perkins, Lee Brumley ( once a  wonderful Pocomoke City officer for many years and is now with Somerset County), Lt. Craven, Officer Tucker and Officer Zina Means.  They made their rounds up and down the street Friday evening chatting, getting acquainted with those they did not know.

Everytime I've been to Pocomoke I've always missed the chance to go into Cole's Cakes.  I like cake- especially cupcakes and Friday night, with my husband with me,  this was my chance to get him to buy me some of those delicious treats everyone raves about.  My photo that I took of her new painted store front turned out cummy- so I'm borrowing hers that was taken during the block party a few weeks ago.
Cole's Cakes Photo
If you haven't had any of these cupcakes please take time to drop by and purchase one.  The itty bitty ones were yummy but you really do need to go for the larger ones.......Husband ate his that night.  I saved mine for breakfast the next morning....yes, I did.  Well, that chocolate cupcake is history and I am ready for MORE!  The first thing I noticed about the cupcake, aside from being delicious, was how light it was.  I'm not telling any more- just try them.  Now, I did take a photo of the dinosaur cake being made but that photo came out looking like something hideous so I'll just opt to post a photo of it when the cake is decorated.
Thanks again Cole's Cakes for being so kind and helpful.  Thanks for the pastry bag...will use it when I stuff strawberries!
Mar-Va Theater was filled and Riverside Grill was doing a fantastic business!  Keep in mind that there were many more displays of talent  by the artists besides the ones I have posted.
Friday evening was fun!  Angela Manos, Downtown Coordinator for Pocomoke City, deserves an applause as do all the merchants, Pocomoke Chamber of Commerce and everyone that displayed their talents.

FYI- I received a phone call late Friday night to tell me that downtown Pocomoke was still abuzz well after 9:00 with people strolling....
This is  good and many of us can't wait until the next time!

Great job, Angela!

Riverside Grill

Riverside Grill
Downtown Pocomoke City, Maryland

This photo, taken Sunday October 30, 2011, was the first photograph I took of what now has been named the Riverside Grill.

And this photo taken Wednesday July 4, 2012 shows a beautifully completed restaurant.
I haven't been inside since the furniture has been uncrated and put into place, the kitchen finished off with appliances and doors put on.  So I am in for a surprise just as much as the first to dine there are.  I can't wait.  And personally, I don't care if I get anything to eat or not.  I just want to sit back and take it all in.

The best of luck to everyone at the Riverside Grill.

There is no set word on it's opening yet but it won't be much longer.  I'll be sure to let everyone know.

Opening Soon.......

The New Pocomoke Restaurant

Saturday, June 16, 2012
Watch for the opening date of the new restaurant in downtown Pocomoke City.
It's hard to believe that I have been taking photographs of this spot located on the Pocomoke River since December 2011 - when ground was first turned over to begin the foundation work.

The kitchen appliances have been delivered and are ready to be installed. Tables and chairs are there and the bar is just about completed!

In case you missed the photos of the beautiful landscaping that now surrounds the restaurant follow this link: http://thepocomokepubliceye.blogspot.com/2012/06/new-pocomoke-restaurantjust-little-more.html

Landscaping was provided by Douglas Guns, Superintendent of the Winter Quarters Golf Course, and his crew. Douglas Guns and his crew, along with the assistance of some wonderful, hardworking people from Pocomoke High School, are responsible for the beauty in the Mini Park on the corner of Second Street and Market Street in downtown Pocomoke City.

Stayed tuned for an opening date! The wait is almost over........

The New Pocomoke Restaurant - almost

Pocomoke City Restaurant

Pocomoke City, Maryland

May 31, 2012

I've lost count on which week we are on but I do remember I began taking photos in December 2011. The thought of this restaurant becoming a reality never seemed to phase me until about 2 weeks ago. Now, with every visit I get a little more nervous and anxious and find myself wanting to turn my camera over to the Councilman so I can pick up a broom.... just trying to tidy up hoping it would speed the process.

Doesn't work that way. But I can tell all of you that every visit now brings on bigger and better changes......and it won't be long now before something is being cooked in the kitchen and customers are seated either inside or out.

The walk in freezer has been installed and the kitchen has had the insulation tucked away, vents and all those odd looking things that I've seen hanging from the ceiling have all been put into their proper places and ceiled away with ceiling tiles. The kitchen walls have been finished.

Ceiling fans add a wonderful touch to the restaurant. Honestly you just can't imagine the beauty of the restaurant itself added to the beauty of the fact that it sits at the side of the Pocomoke River. Carpeting at one end of the restaurant and woodgrained flooring at the other. Some more hard workers and those who get the headaches from it all.......It has taken so many hands to bring this restaurant from an idea to a reality for Pocomoke City. Regardless of what the task was in the construction of the reastaurant each person played an important part in its beauty.
Kevin Sewell is a city employee as well. I have never seen this young man when he didn't have a smile on his face. (I'm sure he'd rather be on the dock with a fishing rod in his hand).

Supervisor of City Department Bill East and Pocomoke City Manager Russ Blake checking on the progress of the restaurant while the two young men below take a break from landscaping. Photos will never be able to actually show just what a masterpiece all of this area has become.

We simply can't forget that while history was being made for the restaurant in downtown Pocomoke the Skipjack Ida May was also making history also and was docked just outside the restaurant for a few days. This really gave the feeling (to those that didn't know) the restaurant must be open for business.
I leave you with these photos until the next time......

But I assure you it won't be long now..........

A Different View of the New Pocomoke Restaurant

Pocomoke River
Sunday  May 27, 2012

Here's a totally different look at the restaurant being built between the Delmarva Discovery Center and the Pocomoke River.

Since I can not walk on water and my husband sold our boat and jet skis so  long ago to begin the hobby of mud bogging I have never been able to photograph the restaurant from this angle myself.

In just a few more weeks the long wait will be over.  Boaters and jet skiers will be able to take advantage of the FREE docking at the new restaurant while enjoying a meal or even just a few drinks either from the deck or inside.  I'm looking forward to it.
A big thank you to Bill and Sue Tull for sending me these photos to share.  Thank you for caring  about Pocomoke City, as many of us do, and enough about my venture (to capture history being made through photos)  and for knowing how important my "mission" is.
