Media Didn't Care About Protest Signs Threatening Bush

In recent weeks, the media have focused a lot of attention on anti-Obama signs showing up at town hall meetings and Tea Parties from coast to coast.

Without a doubt, some of them cross the line of decency.

However, the press's outrage is quite different than what happened when protesters carried offensive signs threatening former President George W. Bush.

Police continue search for Crisfield man missing since 2007

Police plan to return next week to a property on Canal Drive outside Crisfield to search for a man after a cadaver dog hit on a spot in the yard Friday, said 1st Sgt. Stanley Harmon of the Crisfield Police Department.

Officers went to the property as part of an ongoing investigation into the October 2007 disappearance of Gordon Nelson Sr., Harmon said. At the time he was reported missing, Nelson lived on Village Drive inside the city limits, but he previously lived on Canal Drive which is outside town near Janes Island State Park.

Although nothing was found on Friday, officers plan to return to conduct a more extensive search, he said.

Police consider his disappearance to be suspicious, Harmon said. Nelson was last seen at the local Veterans of Foreign Wars post.

Senator Ted Kennedy, who is gravely ill with brain cancer, has sent a letter to Massachusetts lawmakers requesting a change in the state law that determines how his Senate seat would be filled if it became vacant before his eighth full term ends in 2012. Current law mandates that a special election be held at least 145 days after the seat becomes available. Mr. Kennedy is concerned that such a delay could leave his fellow Democrats in the Senate one vote short of a filibuster-proof majority for months while a special election takes place.

"I therefore am writing to urge you to work together to amend the law through the normal legislative process to provide for a temporary gubernatorial appointment until the special election occurs," writes the Senator.

What Mr. Kennedy doesn't volunteer is that he orchestrated the 2004 succession law revision that now requires a special election, and for similarly partisan reasons. John Kerry, the other Senator from the state, was running for President in 2004, and Mr. Kennedy wanted the law changed so the Republican Governor at the time, Mitt Romney, could not name Mr. Kerry's replacement. "Prodded by a personal appeal from Senator Edward M. Kennedy," reported the Boston Globe in 2004, "Democratic legislative leaders have agreed to take up a stalled bill creating a special election process to replace U.S. Senator John F. Kerry if he wins the presidency." Now that the state has a Democratic Governor, Mr. Kennedy wants to revert to gubernatorial appointments.

The moonbat governor — the David Alexrod-molded Obama prototype and disastrous flop Coupe Deval Patrick — can be counted on to appoint a leftist who will vote to assure that normal Americans have no access to the first-rate healthcare Kennedy has been receiving.

You would think with death staring into his bloated red face, Chappaquiddick Ted would make some last desperate attempt to redeem his evil life. But apparently this fetid personification of everything that makes the Democrat Party vile will march straight down to hell without looking back.

The Falling of the Pocomoke Bridge

August 17,1988

Do you remember the day the Pocomoke River Bridge fell? My telephone rang very early that morning to tell me the news. I will admit I didn't really believe it until I saw it for myself! For some reason, very early in the morning the little bridge just came tumbling down. And of course, for months there were the rumors and speculations of how it could fall, who was the last to travel it and how remarkable it was no one had been killed.

My news clippings from the Pocomoke paper are gone but I did find these pictures that were taken 2 days after it collapsed. There isn't much on the internet but I did find some interesting information.......

Md. Eastern Shore Bridge Collapses

Article from: The Washington Post Article date: August 18, 1988 Author: Paul Valentine

A two-lane bridge over the Pocomoke River collapsed early this morning, causing no known injuries, but drawing top Maryland highway officials to this town to dispel fears that the state's bridges are becoming dangerous.

Two 36-foot spans of the 285-foot-long bridge tumbled into the river about 1 a.m., officials said, just after a car had crossed it. Maryland troopers rushed to the scene at the edge of this Eastern Shore town and closed off traffic within minutes, officials said.

The cause of the mishap was still not known late today, ...

Well, that was not all I found. Two days before the collapse of span, a motorist traveling west to east noticed a dip in the bridge deck and that the pedestrian crosswalk railing ,in places,| Direct Links | Movies world | Software world | Download PC Games | Mediafire Links | Celebrity Pictures seemed to bowed downward. The same motorist on August 16,1988 crossed the bridge again and notice the dip in the bridge had become more severe. He naturally assumed that the bridge tenders were aware of it and didn't feel the need to report it to anyone. ( I would assume that too). And the manager of the market on the Somerset side of the bridge noticed the same thing
on those same two days.


August 16, 1988, around 11:00 a.m. another motorist noticed
a "V" shaped depression that traveled 10 to 12 inches deep and about 20 ft. long. This wasn't all he found to be faulty with the bridge and immediately drove to Pocomoke City Police Dept. and reported it to the dispatcher. The dispatcher did not notify the officers on duty nor was it logged in as a complaint on the police log.

Finally that afternoon another motorist noticed it and contacted the police chief. The police chief stated that all he saw was a pothole, and did not inspect any other sections of the bridge.

The report further stated that the police department is not trained in matters of bridge construction and defaults................And even though the tiny bridge would have collapsed anyway, IF someone had perhaps paid more attention to what these 3 people were saying that bridge could have been shut down and eliminated the possibility of personal injury or even death. No, personal injury did not occur. But it sure could have.

You all remember Sheriff Joe Arpaio of Arizona , who painted the jail cells pink and made the inmates wear pink prison garb. Well.........

Oh, there's MUCH more to know about Sheriff Joe!

Maricopa County was spending approx. $18 million dollars a year on stray animals, like cats and dogs. Sheriff Joe offered to take the department over, and the County Supervisors said okay.

The animal shelters are now all staffed and operated by prisoners. They feed and care for the strays. Every animal in his care is taken out and walked twice daily. He now has prisoners who are experts in animal nutrition and behavior. They give great classes for anyone who'd like to adopt an animal. He has literally taken stray dogs off the street, given them to the care of prisoners, and had them place in dog shows.

The best part? His budget for the entire department is now under $3 million. Teresa and I adopted a Weimaraner from a Maricopa County shelter two years ago. He was neutered, and current on all shots, in great health, and even had a microchip inserted the day we got him. Cost us $78.

The prisoners get the benefit of about $0.28 an hour for working, but most would work for free, just to be out of their cells for the day. Most of his budget is for utilities, building maintenance, etc. He pays the prisoners out of the fees collected for adopted animals.

I have long wondered when the rest of the country would take a look at the way he runs the jail system, and copy some of his ideas. He has a huge farm, donated to the county years ago, where inmates can work, and they grow most of their own fresh vegetables and food, doing all the work and harvesting by hand.

He has a pretty good sized hog farm, which provides meat, and fertilizer. It fertilizes the Christmas tree nursery, where prisoners work, and you can buy a living Christmas tree for $6 - $8 for the Holidays, and plant it later. We have six trees in our yard from the Prison.

Yup, he was re-elected last year with 83% of the vote.
Now he's in trouble with the ACLU again. He painted all his buses and vehicles with a mural, that has a special hotline phone number painted on it, where you can call and report suspected illegal aliens. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement wasn't doing enough in his eyes, so he had 40 deputies trained specifically for enforcing immigration laws, started up his hotline, and bought 4 new buses just for hauling folks back to the border. He's kind of a 'Git-R Dun' kind of Sheriff.

He has jail meals down to 40 cents a serving and charges the inmates for them.

He stopped smoking and porno magazines in the jails. Took away their weights. Cut off all but 'G' rated movies.

He started chain gangs so the inmates could do free work on county and city projects.

Then he started chain gangs for women so he wouldn't get sued for discrimination.

He took away cable TV until he found out there was a Federal Court Order that required cable TV for jails so he hooked up the cable TV again; only let in the Disney Channel and the Weather Channel.

When asked why the Weather Channel he replied, 'So they will know how hot it's gonna be while they are working on my Chain Gangs.'

He cut off coffee since it has zero nutritional value.

When the inmates complained, he told them 'This isn't the Ritz/Carlton......if you don't like it, don't come back!'

With temperatures being even hotter than usual in Phoenix (116 degrees just set a new record), the Associated Press reports:
About 2,000 inmates living in a barbed-wire-surrounded tent encampment at the Maricopa County Jail have been given permission to strip down to their government-issued pink boxer shorts.

On Wednesday, hundreds of men wearing boxers were either curled up on their bunk beds or chatted in the tents, which reached 138 degrees inside the week before.

Many were also swathed in wet, pink towels as sweat collected on their chests and dripped down to their PINK SOCKS.

'It feels like we are in a furnace', said James Zanzot, an inmate who has lived in the TENTS for 1 year. 'It's Inhumane.'

Joe Arpaio, the tough-guy sheriff who created the tent city and long ago started making his prisoners wear pink and eat bologna sandwiches, is not one bit sympathetic. He said Wednesday that he told all of the inmates: 'It's 120 degrees in Iraq and our soldiers are living in tents too, and they have to wear full battle gear, but they didn't commit any crimes, so shut your mouths!'

Way to go, Sheriff!

Maybe if all prisons were like this one there would be a lot less crime and/or repeat offenders. Criminals should be punished for their crimes - not live in luxury until it's time for their parole, only to go out and commit another crime so they can get back in to live on taxpayers money and enjoy things taxpayers can't afford to have for themselves..

Obama Reinstates "Death Book" For US Veterans of War

President Bush suspended the veteran's "death books" last year.
Unfortunately, Barack Obama reinstated the practice for veterans.

Is it really worth it?

The book asks veterans to decide whether their own life would be "not worth living" under certain guilt inducing scenarios.
The Wall Street Journal reported:

If President Obama wants to better understand why America's discomfort with end-of-life discussions threatens to derail his health-care reform, he might begin with his own Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). He will quickly discover how government bureaucrats are greasing the slippery slope that can start with cost containment but quickly become a systematic denial of care.

Last year, bureaucrats at the VA's National Center for Ethics in Health Care advocated a 52-page end-of-life planning document, "Your Life, Your Choices." (pdf) It was first published in 1997 and later promoted as the VA's preferred living will throughout its vast network of hospitals and nursing homes. After the Bush White House took a look at how this document was treating complex health and moral issues, the VA suspended its use. Unfortunately, under President Obama, the VA has now resuscitated "Your Life, Your Choices."

Who is the primary author of this workbook? Dr. Robert Pearlman, chief of ethics evaluation for the center, a man who in 1996 advocated for physician-assisted suicide in Vacco v. Quill before the U.S. Supreme Court and is known for his support of health-care rationing.

"Your Life, Your Choices" presents end-of-life choices in a way aimed at steering users toward predetermined conclusions, much like a political "push poll." For example, a worksheet on page 21 lists various scenarios and asks users to then decide whether their own life would be "not worth living."

The circumstances listed include ones common among the elderly and disabled: living in a nursing home, being in a wheelchair and not being able to "shake the blues." There is a section which provocatively asks, "Have you ever heard anyone say, 'If I'm a vegetable, pull the plug'?" There also are guilt-inducing scenarios such as "I can no longer contribute to my family's well being," "I am a severe financial burden on my family" and that the vet's situation "causes severe emotional burden for my family."

Page 21 of the book asks: "What makes my life worth living?"



But, don't worry seniors... You have nothing to worry about with Obamacare.

CINCINNATI (AP) - Authorities said Bennie Crabtree is the most-arrested man in the county. Records show he has been arrested 146 times since 1998, when Hamilton County's record-keeping system was updated. Veteran police officers said he was arrested many more times in the decades before that.

Crabtree's record includes criminal trespassing, disorderly conduct and theft. Police say he steals food and intrudes in places such as the University of Cincinnati, hospitals and businesses. He's never done anything serious enough to be sent to prison.

Because of jail overcrowding, he's now often released hours after arrest.

Police say the 61-year-old man has lived mostly on the streets and has some mental problems.

A social worker says Crabtree is lonely.

ELIZABETH CITY, NC - The United States Coast Guard will send a team airborne Thursday along the Atlantic Coast to warn mariners about the possible dangers coming from Hurricane Bill.

Just before 5 a.m. Thursday, Bill was downgraded from a Category 4 storm to a Category 3. Still powerful though, Bill's winds and power miles away in the Atlantic could cause strong swells and dangerous winds for boaters along the east coast.

The Coast Guard team is scheduled to depart on their mission from Elizabeth City, NC around 9 a.m. Thursday. From the HC-130J aircraft, guardsmen will be able to broadcast warning messages to mariners on the waters below.

WAVY.com Reporter Oren Liebermann went along for the trip in 2008 as guardsmen flew the same mission in preparation for Tropical Storm Cristobal. WAVY-TV 10 will be aboard the flight again Thursday.

How do they find each other? Is there some invisible beacon for the black hearted to lessen the degrees of separation between them and like minded cellar dwellers? I have come to the conclusion that there are two types of people in this fray.

Pocomoke City has a population of under 5000. How this unlucky soul came into contact with what appears to be it’s under-est of bellies starts with Levi’s cousin Steve Magg. The impetice for the meeting, the guy who actually drove Levi, Christine and the boys for the only other trip to the farmhouse in October, the guy who was at the farmhouse constantly from November 9 through the 13th HAS NEVER BEEN QUESTIONED BY POLICE IN THIS CASE.

Democrats have requested records from several insurance companies. Congressional leaders want to demonize insurance company executives in order to convince the American public that the government needs to control health care.
FOX News reported:

Democrats on a House committee are seeking detailed financial records from dozens of large insurance companies, officials disclosed Tuesday, part of an investigation into "executive compensation and other business practices" in an industry opposed to President Barack Obama's plan to overhaul health care.

The request included records relating to compensation of highly paid employees, documents relating to companies' premium income and claims payments, and information on expenses stemming from any event held outside company facilities in the past 2 1/2 years.

The requests were made in letters signed by Rep. Henry Waxman, D-Calif., who guided a portion of health care legislation through the House Energy and Commerce Committee last month as chairman, and Rep. Bart Stupak, D-Mich., who heads the Energy and Commerce investigations and oversight subcommittee.

They wrote that the committee was "examining executive compensation and other business practices in the health insurance industry." The Associated Press obtained a copy.

The requests were issued at a time when Obama's health care proposal is under intense attack from Republicans and other critics, including the health insurance industry. Much of the opposition focuses on proposals for the government to sell insurance in competition with private carriers.

Maybe they should look into SEIU executives' compensation, etc., at the same time. In fact, that of ALL union execs.

And, while they're at it, they could take a look at ACORN, too.

PHOENIX (AP) — A man carrying a copy of the US Constitution was arrested while demonstrating outside President Obama’s speech to veterans on Monday.

Although Arizona law currently allows citizens to openly carry a Constitution for purposes of self-defense against tyrants and despots, such laws are usurped in the presence of the President.

“A venue is considered a federal site when the Secret Service is protecting the president and federal law applies on a federal site,” said Secret Service spokesman Ed Donovan.

Because the Constitution contains language “limiting” the powers of President - and was also written by slave-owners who considered blacks to be “three-fifths” of a person and not eligible for the office of the Presidency - the document is not protected as “free speech”. Instead, it’s covered under federal hate speech laws if one is brought within 1000 feet of President Obama.

White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs said that the incident was being taken “very seriously” and that the FBI was considering further action.

“The US Constitution is a violent and revolutionary document, directly responsible for at least two wars in this nation,” said Gibbs. “Insurrectionist chatter like that may require us to consider charges of treason. We’re currently investigating the possibility, which will take some time, since no one in this administration has ever actually examined the document in question.”

“Free speech is not an absolute,” explained FBI spokesman John Miller. “You can’t yell ‘Fire!’ in a crowded theater. Waving a Constitution around is essentially yelling ‘freedom!’ at a crowded Obama rally. We consider this sort of offensive language a direct threat to civil order in general and the President in particular, and it will not be tolerated.”

(vi) other factors as determined by the Secretary.

The appallingly corrupt and powerful Senator Chris Dodd (D-CT), best known for receiving the largest bribes from Fannie and Freddie before they crashed, confirms that ACORN could be the "eligible entity" that makes sure you are taking good care of the government's property by exercising properly, eating right, and so forth.

“President Obama must think the American people are idiots if he thinks the healthcare rationing, restrictions and regulations being debated in Congress will save money and result in better preventative medicine,” says Stuart Barton, president of the Atlanta-based AmericanSeniors.org that represents hundreds of thousands of members nationwide.

“The president told the AARP meeting that opponents are “making people scared.” ”Well, they ought to be scared at current proposals,” Barton said. “The Congressional Budget Office estimates the plan’s cost over 10 years would be $1.2 to $1.8 trillion. That’s absurd in a recession, let alone good times.”

The ASA has three major concerns: 1) a government-run plan would limit patient- doctor choice 2) there would be an employer mandate that would kill jobs and lower wages and 3) the current legislation being debated attacks baby boomer and seniors by cutting $500 billion out of Medicare over the next 10 years.

“On page 425 of the bill, a person must go to counseling every five years to basically learn how to die,” Barton says. “As I read this and hear about no preventative care, it dawned on me that Obama’s plan is to let all these baby boomers die quicker so we don’t have to care for them in old age.”

Cindy Sheehan Targets Obama's Vacation

It wouldn't be an official presidential summer vacation without her. Cindy Sheehan is going to follow President Barack Obama to Martha's Vineyard.

The "peace mom," who famously protested the Iraq war by camping out near President George W. Bush's Texas ranch during his vacations, plans to arrive on the island Aug. 25 -- two days after the first family gets there. Sheehan's son was killed in Iraq five years ago. A statement on Sheehan's blog says she and "other like-minded peace activists" want to remind Obama "the body bags aren't taking a vacation."

The Washington Examiner's Byron York gives Sheehan credit for consistency, but thinks "her days are over." He says the anti-war forces that rallied around her when Bush was in office have fallen silent and moved on.

Sheehan and the Obamas will find the Massachusetts resort all decked out for the presidential visit. The New York Times notes they could chill out with an "Obamarita" at Sharkey's Cantina or shop for T-shirts bearing slogans such as "Barackin' the Vineyard."

While the president's vacation will give a boost to the island's economy, one columnist is urging Obama to opt for a "stay-cation." Tracie Powell writes on CQ Politics that with health care reform hanging in the balance, it would be better for Obama to stay home -- even if it's just for the sake of "good public relations."

LiveScience reports that locals and tourists are flocking to the town of Kiryat Yam hoping to catch a glimpse of a mermaid who has been spotted doing a few tricks and disappearing into the water.

According to Schlomo Cohen, one of the first people to see the mermaid, "I was with friends when suddenly we saw a woman laying on the sand in a weird way. At first I thought she was just another sunbather, but when we approached she jumped into the water and disappeared. We were all in shock because we saw she had a tail."

Kiryat Yam is now offering $1 million to the first person to snap a photograph of the reported mermaid. "I believe if there really is a mermaid then so many people will come to Kiryat Yam, a lot more money will be made than $1 million," town spokesman Natti Zilberman said.

Even if the mermaid ends up being a hoax, the town will be able to save the $1 million and continue to see a jump in tourism.

Mermaids are believed to be mythological creatures that have a human head and torso and the tail of a fish. Throughout history, they are said to have charmed people, often distracting them and causing them to walk off their ship decks or run ships aground. Other mermaids are said to have squeezed men to death while attempting to rescue them.

One of the earliest mermaid hoaxes involved showman P.T. Barnum and his "FeeJee Mermaid." The creature, which was displayed in his museum, was actually a taxidermy fake -- the head and torso of a small monkey were grafted onto the body and tail of a fish.

I guess this confirms that you never know what you may find on the beach!

60,000 Americans have cancelled their AARP memberships over the leftist organization's support of Obamacare.
CBS News reported:

CBS News has learned that up to 60,000 people have cancelled their AARP memberships since July 1, angered over the group's position on health care.

Elaine Guardiani has been with AARP for 14 years, and said, "I'm extremely disappointed in AARP."

Retired nurse Dale Anderson has 12 years with AARP and said, "I don't wanna be connected with AARP."

Many are switching to the American Seniors Association, a group that calls itself the conservative alternative as CBS News Investigative Correspondent Sharyl Attkisson reports.

Analysis: Liberals tired of health care compromise

Frustrated liberals have a question for President Barack Obama and Democratic lawmakers: Isn't it time the other guys gave a little ground on health care? What's the point of a bipartisan bill, they ask, if we're making all the concessions?

A case in point:

Sen. Charles Grassley, a key Republican negotiator on health care, was on a winning streak as Congress recessed for August, having wrung important concessions from Democrats, including an agreement not to tax employer-provided health insurance and a limit to demands on drug companies.

How did Grassley reciprocate? With an attack that struck Democrats as stunning and baseless. Grassley told an Iowa crowd he would not support a plan that "determines when you're going to pull the plug on Grandma." The remark echoed conservative activists who wrongly claim a House health care bill would require Medicare recipients to discuss their end-of-life plans with doctors.

For liberals supporting far-reaching changes to the nation's health care system, it was another sign that months of negotiations have been a one-way street. It's time to move on without Republicans, they say.

On Tuesday, liberals were fuming over Obama's recent remarks suggesting he might also yield on the federally run insurance option he's been promoting. Many saw it as a huge concession that could leave them with nothing more than watered-down insurance cooperatives.

Town Creek Weed Farm Busted

LEONARDTOWN, Md. (Oct. 9, 2008) -- Robert Oscar Newland, a 22 year-old California, Md. man was arrested and charged Thursday after police found more than 100 marijuana plants and a Glock 40 caliber handgun in his home off of Town Creek Drive.

Police say they obtained a search and seizure warrant for the residence after an investigation led them to Newland.

Police say that once inside Newland's home they found an "extensive marijuana grow" which contained plants in various states of cultivation. Police value the plants and the grow equipment at more than $120,000.

The raid was executed by vice narcotics detectives from the Bureau of Criminal Investigations (BCI), assisted by the St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office Emergency Services Team.

Police say additional charges against Newland are pending a State's Attorney's Office review.

Armey: We're Marching on Washington Against Obamacare

Former House Majority Leader Dick Armey is organizing a march on Washington against the Obama administration’s healthcare plan that he hopes will finally finish off the Democratic push for socialized medicine.

The march, organized by Armey’s political group FreedomWorks, is scheduled for Sept. 12 and is already generating hundreds of thousands of responses, the Texas Republican tells Newsmax.TV. The group isn’t providing transportation, but that doesn’t seem to be a problem.

Canada's Socialized Medicine Approaches Collapse

As the Dems dig themselves into a hole by attempting to impose Canadian-style socialized medicine on America, Canadians are trying to dig themselves out of the hole government control of healthcare has left them in.

The incoming president of the Canadian Medical Association says this country's health-care system is sick and doctors need to develop a plan to cure it.

Dr. Anne Doig says patients are getting less than optimal care and she adds that physicians from across the country - who will gather in Saskatoon on Sunday for their annual meeting - recognize that changes must be made.

"We all agree that the system is imploding, we all agree that things are more precarious than perhaps Canadians realize," Doing said in an interview with The Canadian Press. …

"(Canadians) have to understand that the system that we have right now - if it keeps on going without change - is not sustainable," said Doig.

The good news for Canadians is at least they are moving — if far too slowly — in the direction of freedom and efficiency:

The pitch for change at the conference is to start with a presentation from Dr. Robert Ouellet, the current president of the CMA, who has said there's a critical need to make Canada's health-care system patient-centred. … Ouellet has been saying … "that competition should be welcomed, not feared."

In other words, Ouellet believes there could be a role for private health-care delivery within the public system.

Meanwhile, Comrade Obama continues his attempts to impose a type of healthcare system that all informed people know does not work, confirming that this is about expanding government power, not providing healthcare.

It's about one thing: government control.

Girl talks of cliff plunge escape

An 11-year-old girl who jumped out of a car moments before it rolled down a sheer cliff face and crashed on rocks below says she is lucky to be alive.

Paige Dean escaped from the car which was rolling out of control down a 250ft (76m) hill just seconds before it went over the edge at Benllech, Anglesey.

The schoolgirl had been sitting in the car listening to music when she accidentally knocked off the handbrake.

Paige, from Kinmel Bay, Denbighshire, said: "I have never been so scared."

Paige, who was later treated for shock, was on holiday with her grandparents at the Golden Sunset caravan park.

She was listening to music in the car when she accidentally knocked off the brake and despite frantic attempts, she could not pull it back up.

The car started rolling towards the edge of the cliff, gaining momentum.

With moments to spare, Paige managed to open the car door and fling herself to safety.

"I dropped my phone down the side of the car and when I reached over to get it I accidentally knocked the brake off," she explained.

"I was rolling towards the edge of the cliff and I was petrified.

"I thought 'I've got to get out' and I jumped out and saw the car fall off the cliff.

"I definitely would have died. I have never been so scared."

Her grandmother Marie Dean, who looks after Paige and her brother Cameron, seven, saw the incident.

"I could not believe what was happening. I ran after the car and I saw her jump out. But my husband Billy didn't realise and shouted 'she's gone'," she said.

Marie Dean spoke of her relief after Paige's lucky escape

"My whole body went numb and I ran over to Paige and held her as she cried.

"God was looking down on us," she said.

Dave Massey, a paramedic and RNLI volunteer in Moelfre, was one of the first on the scene on Saturday at 1615 BST.

"It is a miracle she survived and that she had the presence of mind to jump out at the last second.

"There is no doubt that she would never have survived that fall," he said.

The vehicle plummeted down the sheer drop and crashed into rocks before being submerged in water.

Paige was taken to Ysbyty Gwynedd hospital in Bangor by ambulance and had treatment for shock.

Mrs Dean said she was now on the lookout for a new car, and the police were recovering hers from the sea on Sunday.

The meds being discarded are expired, spoiled, overprescribed, or unneeded. These actions, AP found, are part of an emerging problem: the presence of minute concentrations of pharmaceuticals in the nation’s drinking water supplies, which may be affecting aquatic species and even human cell growth.

Although large facilities handle the more powerful and toxic drugs, people at home need to be aware of the most environmentally sensitive way to discard their own medications. Dumping them down the sink or toilet is no longer a good idea. In February, the American Pharmacists Association (APhA) issued guidelines—since embraced by the federal government as well—that recommend against doing this. Instead, consumers, doctors, and pharmacies are being urged to dispose of most drugs in the household garbage.

APhA offer these guidelines for disposing of unused medications in the trash:

• Pour liquid medication into a sealable plastic bag. If the medication is a solid (pill, liquid capsule, etc.), crush it or add water to dissolve it.
• Add kitty litter, sawdust, coffee grounds—or any material that mixes with the medication and makes it less appealing for pets and children to eat—to the plastic bag. Seal the bag and put it in the household trash, out of the reach of children and pets.
• Remove and destroy all identifying personal information on the prescription label before recycling the containers or throwing them away.

Another option is to check for approved state and local collection alternatives such as community-based household hazardous waste collection programs. In certain states, you may be able to take your unused medications to your pharmacy or other location for disposal. Consult your pharmacist with any questions.
