Chincoteague Island finished #3 in USA TODAY 10Best Readers' Choice Travel Awards' Best Coastal Small Town Contest. A panel of five travel experts partnered with 10Best editors to pick the initial 20 nominees and the top 10 winners were determined by popular vote. They are Sandusky OH, Rockport TX, Chincoteague Island VA, Georgetown SC, Bay St. Louis MS, Gulf Shores AL, Southport NC, St. Simons Island GA, Saugatuck MI, and Bayfield WI.

Pocomoke's Early Voting Request
By a 5 to 2 vote the Worcester County Commissioners rejected a request to add Pocomoke City as a second early voting location in Worcester County.

Remembering the Eastern Shore performance of two giants of comedy. Tim Conway passed away this past week at the age of 85. Harvey Korman passed away in 2008. He was 81. They appeared together in Salisbury in April, 2005.
1970.. Familiar faces and voices are gone from local airwaves during a prolonged strike by WBOC on-air TV and radio personnel.
1960.. The Pirates bring the World Series Championship to Pittsburgh for the first time in 35 years, defeating the Yankees in 7 games.
