Don Malloy Files To Run For Council Seat In Pocomoke

POCOMOKE CITY -- With the filing of Don Malloy for a council seat, both offices up for grabs in Pocomoke's April 5 election have a candidate. Malloy, who had served previously on the Council from 1965-1968, filed to fill the third district seat. That seat is now up for election as Bruce Morrison, the present occupant, has filed for mayor.

Malloy said that he had been asked by a number of friends and acqaintances to put his name in for the post. He doesn't see any problems with the direction of the town but would like to see Pocomoke continue to improve, he said in an interview.

A member of the Pocomoke Volunteer Fire Company for more than 40 years, he was also active in the ambulance service. He served on the board of the historic Mar-Va Theater during a number of the years the landmark was brought back to life. He is a member of the Pocomoke Elks Lodge where he is a past exalted ruler.

One project he points to with pride is helping with the construction of the Nature Trail from Cypress Park to the edge of the Winter Quarters Golf Course.

To be eligible to run for mayor, a person must be a resident of Pocomoke City for at least one year prior to the election, a registered voter and at least 25 years old. To be eligible to run for the open council seat, a person must be a registered voter and a resident of the Third District.

The deadline for filing is Friday, Feb. 4, at Pocomoke City Hall.

The deadline for registering to vote in the election is March 4. To be eligible to register, a person must be at least 18 years old, a U.S. citizen, a resident of Maryland for the past six months and must have been a resident of Pocomoke City for at least 30 days just prior to the election.

Anyone who does not know his or her district of residence can find it at City Hall.

I may be wrong, but I don't think so. Mr. Malloy does not live in this district. His daughter and son-in law have been living at his home for the last 10 years. Mr. Malloy has been living at his River Road home in Somerset County. This can be proven because his mail is delivered at that home.Just because the Pocomoke Home is in Malloy's name and he has not lived there for over a year and has lived in Somerset County makes him unqulified to run. I see another law suit protest a-coming.

You do know the Burkes weren't the only ones to file a complaint to the Pocomoke City Board of Elections. But when you put your 'friends' on the Board and make it known who the 'favored' city hall candidate is, no one speaks out or answers the complaint. No, the Burkes were not the only ones in the past 10 years to file a complaint. But People are getting sick of this mess.

What really bugs me is we will be no better off. Morrison and Malloy will be part of the same old game. Might as well still have Butler in office.

Don't know "Middle of the Night Poster" but one things for sure, if the Burke's say it-it ain't true!
They've told one too many lies to be believed anymore. Nothing they say has ever panned out-EVER! They are nothing but a bunch of windbags looking to stir up trouble, due to their own lack of success and that's the bottom line in black and white!

hey 1:13 am isn't 'middle of the night'. LOL. Especially for those who work evening or shift work. Sounds a bit judgemental.

Actually, I can't attest for all, but some things were or have come to pass:

    1. Cane kept untagged cars.
    2. Cane did not reside in his district in his final year. Those who knew him at all, knew this about him and yet our local government did nothing.
    3. Lee 'taught' some how to use certain 'loop' holes to gain a victorious election win.
    4. Heard some of those shannigans and would not, to retain my integrity, EVER, NO NEVER, have anything to do with that.
    5. For all those individuals who PREY on the defenseless, disabled and shut in, or those they refer to as 'African American Street Traffic' YOU should be ASHAMED of yourselves. Also for pursuing absentee ballots from them. And you call yourselves 'church people'.
    6. Even saw a Pastor who had her van up to a nursing home, she was dressed 'like a man' a few weeks before the November elections and definitely not dressed like a preacher, going into a place -the elderly apartments - that I'd never seen her go before. Funny thing, she was parked in her van downtown and i saw her FACE just 10 minutes prior. Did she have to purchase pencils? Now she has a building on market street in Pocomoke and has moved from willow street near the barber shop.

Now there is a real story.

If I had not seen with my own eyes, I would not believe this could happen in Pocomoke. Personally, don't care who does or who doesn't believe me either.

    GOD KNOWS THE TRUTH!

So are you saying that the lady preacher was up to something just because she was dressed like a man and not a preacher? Wow! That's really out there! And she stopped down town? Big deal. That doesn't mean a thing!

In fact, none of it means a thing now. (And to most people it didn't back then) Cane has died. Mike is no longer Mayor. Who knows where Lee is.

Get over it and find something constructive to do.

I am judgemental 8:11, especially towards low life common losers like the Burkes, whom you seem to hold up as heros or something. I've never seen a more miserable couple in my life. All they ever do/did is to make up LIES about people and 'confused' people like yourself believe them!
If they were so smart and knowledgeable they wouldn't have had to run out on their bills around here and would be paying the lawyer who kept Billy sorry arse out of jail!

8:11.....so you saw a woman pastor dressed like a man going into the elderly apartments and you are wondering if she had to buy pencils.....What in God's name are you talking about???????

Who in that district, wants to be a Councilman or woman? How long do they have to register and can we offer names of people we would like to see serve in that roll?

8:58 pm That is one of the oldest tricks in the book around here with election fraud. They prey on the elderly, the elderly assisted living and the apartments in town and some of our very own councilpersons were caught up in that. Remember, investigation by Todd? Questionable activities of assisting with absentee ballots by at least one of our current council persons. Anytime a candidate has over 50 in this town, IT SHOULD BE QUESTIONED!

Lee bragged about how to do it and some of them followed him closely. Remember the pic of Mike McDermott, Eddie Lee and Bruce Cottman. Now do you think they were really having a 'tea'?

And if you think Lee has gone away somewhere, guess again.

8:42-8:58pm Most preachers dont dress like that when 'visiting'. Suggest you 'get a life'. God knows what is going on in this town. Some may try to 'play God' and probably will try if elected into office.

The people of this town may just surprise you.

Pictures are just that 11:46. Pictures. Nobody knows for sure what they were discussing.
Stop dwelling on the past and plan to try to make some changes for the better if all that still has you upset My guess is that most of that isn't even true but only assumed.

Guess it's human nature to think when a certain group of people are together they are up to no good.

11:57 Lee is always up to no good.

You must be one of 'them'.

Why do people attack people when they say they saw something strange? HHmm. no wonder people in this town are SOOOOOO intimidated. LOL. I'm not one of them.

Do you believe Morrison would make a good Mayor given his history and discharge at two prior jobs?

    ReplyDelete
  19. Let me put it to you this way anon 12:47. I have known Bruce Morrison just about ALL of my life! His entire family, for that matter. I do not know of any wrong doing this man has EVER done. I don't know, and furthermore don't care where you may be getting your information from. So many people moaned and groaned about the Mayor you DID have.

Give this man a break! I'd vote for him if I could. If there hadn't been a soul running for the position you'd be grumbling about that. Sit back and just watch what happens and stop nitpicking.

When something of great magnitude happens in Pocomoke I am sure you will be the first to know.

Dawg, no wonder no one voices any concerns in town. They get 'jumped' for asking a question. Maybe someone should in this case.

Also, I have tremendous respect for our local firemen. But how many do they need in our local government?

JMMB, you are rude, offensive and dont seem to particularly like others expressing a different opinion. People have a right to their views. Thank goodness you aren't running for office.

I have witnessed the same from Morrison at council meetings. My two cents worth these are not qualities for a Mayor.

  22. Let's get one thing understood. I am not a rude person at all. But when a question is aired such as the one above I almost know where the comments will be headed.

Everyones and anyones views are always welcomed here. How can you anyone that comments under "anon" consider themselves being offened?

I just pointed out my own personal view on the situation. And now you know.

  25. Okay, I'll bite.
Check out how many things in the annals of the Tattler have come to fruition. Not 1 but 3 Grand Jury investigations into election fraud.
Christine Sheddy was murdered and McDermot and Mitchell did everything they could to screw up the case.
Now the town is considering hiring Mitchell back after he refused to arrest an assailant for continually raping a poor little girl that was even too young to attend school.
With regards to the picture of the 3 Bozo's taken together, that picture was taken by me when the mayors wife was yelling at me and the photographer for the Times that she wasn't covering the whole story.
And regarding our bills...There is no way to make any money on the shore and I did the honorable thing of taking care of my grandfather in fulfillment of a promise I made my Granma. Grandad passed and we left to go make so money. Don't concern yourself about my bills they will be paid and paid in full. They have always been paid before, and they will again.
Say what you want to say about me and my husband, but at least we cared about the town in which we lived. We put our money where our mouths are literally, and have paid and are still paying a heavy price for doing so. Our Attorney bill is more than half paid, and he's covering his butt, for which I don't blame him.
Sorry if you don't like the things that we found in our town, but we tried every recourse to make it better. If you don't have a problem with it, then by all means enjoy it.
    Stephanie Burke
