Pocomoke City Election Is Postponed





PUBLIC NOTICE OF APRIL 7, 2020 MUNICIPAL ELECTION

The Pocomoke City Municipal election scheduled for April 7, 2020 will be postponed until further notice. More information will be forthcoming as Pocomoke City works to stay within the confines of the current State of Emergency conditions while keeping our citizen's health and safety the most important concern.

    Does the City Charter allow for postponement of elections?

    Section C–35. Election of Mayor and Councilmen.

    A. On the first Tuesday in April in 1966 the Mayor shall be elected for a two–year term. On the first Tuesday in April every two years thereafter a Mayor shall be elected to serve for a period of two years until the first Tuesday in April in 2002 and every three years thereafter, to serve for a period of three years.

    There is no provision in the Charter for postponement of any election.
