The Salvation Army's Accomack County Service Unit provides funds to families in emergency situations all year. Its major fundraising campaign is the Red Kettle drive during the Christmas holidays, but due the increase of requests, the unit will be conducting additional fundraising activities.
The Service Unit will be hosting a fundraising project on Saturday, June 20, in front of Edwards Seafood in Onley. It will be selling barbecue chicken dinners, which includes chicken, potato salad, green beans, a roll and drink for $7. Dinners will be sold from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. It is eat-in or takeout.
There will also be a yard sale at the same location starting at 8 a.m. Individuals or groups can rent a space for $10. Vendors must provide their own tables for set up. To donate items to Salvation Army yard sales, contact Mary Waldron at 757-787-3420, Julia Spickofsky at 757-302-9077 or Jesse Poulson at 757-787-1311.
To reserve a space for the yard sale and/or to order dinners, call Earline Washington at 757-787-8321 or Brenda Holden at 757-787-8590. All proceeds will be used for the Salvation Army County Service Unit's Emergency Services Program.
