If You Drink Don't Drive!

PARTYING TONIGHT?
MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A DESIGNATED DRIVER
Those who head out to celebrate the New Year on the Eastern Shore tonight would be advised to use extra caution. Local Police will be on alert to try to eliminate drunk driving. Those who welcome in the New Year by consuming alcoholic beverages should allow an designated driver to make sure they get home safely. Local officers will be watching closely to make sure drivers on the road tonight arent committing a DUI.

The Eastern Shore suffered two traffic fatalities over the Christmas holidays . Alcohol is believed to be involved in at least one of the highway deaths. The best advice is if you plan to welcome 2010 with a little New Years cheer, make sure someone who is alcohol free is available to make sure you get home safely.

Virginias traffic laws provide harsh penalties for even the first DUI conviction. Fines along with increased insurance rates and other expenses involved in a DUI conviction can be more than $12,000.
