An elderly man was the victim of the fatal traffic accident on Route 13 in Nelsonia has been reported by Virginia State Police.
According to investigators, the elderly man swerved to miss a tractor trailor and struck a piece of heavy machinery and was pronounced dead at the scene. The passenger of the ranger was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The accident took place around 7:30 AM.
One lane and the shoulder of Route 13 northbound are closed due to the accident.
Investigators are currently with holding the name of the victim as they contacting next-of-kin.
