The family of Whitney L. Bennett, of the 3600 block of Susan Beach Road, contacted police on Dec. 9 after becoming concerned about her welfare.
Delaware State Police learned that Bennett may have visited a friend in Fruitland, Md., on Dec. 4.
Anyone with information is asked to call Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333 or visit www.tipsubmit.com
We are hoping and praying that Whitney is found safe.
ReplyDeleteWhy does it take so long for these missing people to make it to the news? Doesn't make any sense. If someone did happen to see her way back on Dec. 4 they wouldn't remember unless they knew her. Seems to me potential witnesses could have long forgotten seeing her and maybe who she was with this far along. So stupid, especially since the woman in CA reported seeing the kidnapped girl from VA. You would think the police would see the value of getting this information out as soon as possible.

ReplyDeleteIt's not a police matter if a crime has not been committed. People disappear for many reasons and don't want others to know their whereabouts. Yeah, it's a tough call, but suppose you had several bill collectors after you and you decided to move to Florida or just go underground for a while, or maybe you wanted to get away from an abusive relative or friend; would you want the police tracking you down if you hadn't committed a crime?
She's 23 years old, mother of three small children and has had some things happen in her life lately. My guess is that she doesn't want to be found right now.
ReplyDeleteWell I hope that's what has happened with her Anons 3:53 and 4:45 but I don't think so. 23 year olds usually just don't run off and if they do it's just for a few days. I doubt if this girl has the money to just up and start a new life elsewhere. She does need to eat for heaven's sake!
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately more young girls than you think run off and try to start over somewhere else. When I was stationed at Nellis part of my job required me to be at the Las Vegas bus station from time to time. I was amazed at the number of girls, some obviously 14 or younger, who arrived from who knows where. Some had money but most did not. Those without money relied on the currency they kept in that little purse between their thighs.
