OCEAN CITY, Md. – A fire that broke out at an Ocean City restaurant Thursday evening has been ruled accidental.
Firefighters with the Ocean City Fire Department responded to Hooper’s Crab House just after 7:30 p.m. for a reported appliance fire in the kitchen. Crews worked for approximately three hours to control the blaze that extended into the walls.
We’re told the restaurant was at full capacity at the time, and an orderly evacuation was conducted by restaurant staff. No injuries were reported.
The Worcester County Fire Marshals Office says the fire was accidental in nature and began in an area near the cooking appliance that was involved.
The restaurant is expected to remain closed for several days as repairs are made.
Pocomoke Public Eye Footnote:
Hooper's Crab House was destroyed in a January, 2002 fire and rebuilt at the same location.
