Former Mayor Lippoldt was rushed to Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury last Saturday evening after collapsing on stage at the Mar-Va Theater. He remained in a coma after suffering from a cardiac emergency until he died Wednesday at the age of 85.
Mr. Lippoldt served happily as Mayor of Pocomoke City from 1986 until 1998 and will be remembered for so many wonderful deeds he accomplished. We all know that one of his major accomplishments was the restoration of his beloved Mar-Va Theater.
Pocomoke City and so many others have lost a true friend.
Funeral arrangements will be posted soon.
He's in such a better place...were sure going to miss you Mr. Curt...We know that you will forever be a star shining down on us...

ReplyDeleteI have a couple old photos of Mayor Lippoldt talking to Governor Schaeffer on Market St, just after the bridge collapsed into the river. Although its been many years since the bridge fell, it still is quite a colorful memory for me. Now that both Schaeffer and Lippoldt are gone- I wonder what they are talking about now? Suppose they are happily reminiscing?
ReplyDeleteThose two reminiscing is a funny thought and I wonder if the bridge was the first subject to be discussed.
ReplyDeleteI have some photos too of Mr. Mayor that I might post this weekend. There's just so much one can say about him if you truly knew him. And even if you knew him a little you loved him.
If you would like to share those photos you have please email them to us. We will be sure to post them. I'm sure someone will have a story to tell.....
"kind" (New Pocomoke P.C. City Dictionary) People who belong to a certain clique who think they know it all, are the be all, and if you don't agree with us - we don't listen to ya!
ReplyDeleteThank God there's a real world outside of Pocomoke.
