It Saddens Me to Have to Post This
Very sad news, Brenda, JMMB our top publisher lost her battle with cancer.
She will be deeply missed by many, I know she enjoyed what she did here on this blog and really loved all the new friends that she made.
Chief Sewell, she especially loved you and what you do, she made the new PPD building her own and followed every nail, she enjoyed your books immensely and spoke of them often.
She loved The Downtown, Discovery Center, Pocomoke Chamber, anything and everything Pocomoke and the people of it.
We'll not forget how much she loved the Mud Hops either, Her Husband (Barry) has his own truck that she was so proud of and loved...
I know I'm leaving out a tremendous amount but in short, Brenda simply just loved life. She will be missed.
We all made a good friend when we met Brenda and I know she will be deeply missed by her family friends and loved ones.
My condolences and prayers to all that knew and love her.
God Bless
Tom
Although I never met Brenda in person I had the privilege of being in touch with her from time to time via email as a PPE contributor.
ReplyDeleteWhenever I had some problem with the operating system that publishes our posts I'd reach out to Brenda for help and she was always more than willing to lend a hand.
Brenda truly enjoyed the hours she spent gathering and publishing the information that kept us informed about area happenings and issues. I was always amazed at the amount of work she produced day after day.
I send my heartfelt condolences to Brenda's family and friends.

Chief Kelvin Sewell and members of the Pocomoke City Police Department are saddened at the loss of our dear friend and colleague. Her warm heart and gracious presence will be truly missed by all. Heaven has received a beautiful Angel. Our thoughts and prayers to her family and friends during this time of sorrow.
ReplyDeleteBrenda loved her community and did an amazing job with the PPE. We have all lost a friend, but gained an angel. My thoughts and prayers go out to her family.
ReplyDeletePocomoke City lost it's Number 1 cheerleader with the passing of Brenda. She did a phenomenal job of keeping the community informed though the PPE providing us with an invaluable service.
ReplyDeleteThrough all her trials this past year, she never lost her compassion for others nor her sense of humor. Whenever I see a Bluebird I will always think of Brenda. For those who didn't know she loved those little birds.
My sincerest sympathy go out to her family.
Brenda also had a fondness for hummingbirds and turned me on to the tip of putting out your feeders on April 15th which is easy to remember because it's also tax day.
ReplyDeleteAnyone who knew her, knew she did her grocery shopping on Mondays. She really enjoyed making her husband his lunches as well as making dinner for the both of them and food for family get togethers and the mug bogs.
By speaking with her I learned to practice hospitality as opposed to entertaining. You see when Brenda would have family guests coming of course she wanted to do this and that and get this or that done. She would always end by saying as long as she gets the food cooked that's all that really matters. A very valuable lesson for those of us inclined to want things to be perfect and are stressing ourselves out in the process. I think I will make her sweet potato casserole this week.
I remember something she told me almost a year ago when she was first starting to not feel well. I was trying to remain upbeat and optimistic that her aches and pains were just something that comes with age, but she knew these were different. Her words were she just knew something was "terribly" wrong with her. I'm haunted by these words and have been incredibly sad since hearing of her death on Sunday.
I hope her husband, children and other family members can find some comfort in knowing how much she was loved and respected by those fortunate enough to have known her.
What a lovely tribute to a dear sweet lady, Tom. You managed to put into words what a lot of us are thinking. Peace to Mrs. Brenda Wise's family and friends during these difficult days.
ReplyDeleteA few years ago, Brenda had posted some awesome photos of bluebirds on Facebook, that had taken up residence in a house she had put up for them.
ReplyDeleteToday was a day Brenda would have loved and knowing her, she would have been doing laundry and hanging it outside to dry.
I hung some towels up today and was thinking about her while I was hanging them. A little bit ago, I went out to retrieve them, again with thoughts of Brenda on my mind. For whatever reason, I turned around and sitting on a fencepost was a bluebird!
I rarely see bluebirds and I know it just had to be a sign from her, wanting me to tell her family and friends that she is at peace.
