The Tilghman article mentions gasoline pipe lines nearby. Clint Duncan (C.K. Duncan, Inc.) had a large petroleum distributorship on Railroad Avenue with several huge storage tanks for gasoline, kerosene and #2 heating/diesel oil. His product was delivered by barge on the Pocomoke River. There was a small dock behind the Tilghman warehouse with four pipeline heads where the barge connected to the pipes and the pipes led underground across the rails, across Clarke Avenue and down Railroad Avenue to the Duncan Property.
