Kudos for Crisfield High Marching Band

 (Crisfield-Somerset County Times)

(excerpt)

Celebrating their win

The Crisfield High School Marching Band — nicknamed “The Pride of Somerset” — brought home two more trophies after competing at Music in the Parks at Busch Gardens Williamsburg. The band was a first place and overall winner in the High School Parade category and upon their return home they were escorted into town by police, EMS and Marion and Crisfield fire departments. The band is under the direction of Heather McHenry, assisted by alumni Chris Ford (percussion) and Lynne Johnson (majorettes). Seniors Kolby Harris and Joelle Whitelock are the drum majors and Addyson Ritz is band captain. The Band Boosters made the May 7 trip possible, and it included time for everyone to enjoy the park.

Cause of Naomi Judd's death revealed

(CNN) -- Ashley Judd and her family wanted the world to hear from them how Naomi Judd died.

The younger Judd appeared in an interview with Diane Sawyer, which aired on Thursday on "Good Morning America." She said her family had agreed that she share the cause of death of her mother.

"She used a weapon," Ashley Judd said. "A firearm. So that's the piece of information we're very uncomfortable sharing."

Hello to new 948 Area Code in Virginia

(Shore Daily News)

New telephone lines may now be assigned the 948 area code.  Last month, the Virginia State Corporation Commission began requiring 10 digit dialing anticipating the inventory of 757 numbers running out.  The new area code will allow the region to add new telephone lines.

According to the SCC, alarm, security, elevator services and equipment within the 757 area code which are currently programmed to dial seven digits must be updated or reprogrammed to dial 10 digits and to recognize the new 948 area code.

The new area code will be assigned to new lines and lines using 757 will remain the same.
