Alert: Worcester County Sheriff's Office impersonators-

🚨 Scam Alert – Please Read 🚨

We have received reports of scammers calling residents while using the names of Commanders from the Worcester County Sheriff’s Office. These calls are NOT legitimate.

🔴 Important reminder: The Worcester County Sheriff’s Office will NEVER call, text, or email you to tell you have missed court and demand money, payments, gift cards, wire transfers, or cryptocurrency.

⚠️ Common signs it’s a scam:

- The caller creates urgency or fear (threatening arrest, warrants, or fines)

- You’re told to pay immediately or “keep the call confidential”

- Requests for payment via gift cards, prepaid cards, wire transfer, or crypto

- The caller asks for personal information (SSN, bank details, PINs)

- Caller ID spoofing to look like a law enforcement number

- Poor grammar, scripted responses, or pressure not to verify the call

- Refusal to provide a case number or allow you to call back through an official number

If you receive a call like this:

- Hang up immediately

- Do not provide any personal or financial information

- Report the call to your local law enforcement agency

📞 If you’re unsure whether a call is legitimate, contact the Worcester County Sheriff’s Office directly using an official phone number 410-632-1111 —not the number provided by the caller.

Please help protect our community by sharing this post, especially with friends and family who may be more vulnerable.

The mission is scheduled to launch no earlier than late February from Rocket Lab Launch Complex 2 within the Virginia Spaceport Authority’s Mid-Atlantic Regional Spaceport on Wallops Island, Virginia.
