Pocomoke PD helps with car seat safety

Does your car seat have a snug fit? Do the “inch test” to find out. A properly installed car seat shouldn’t move more than one inch front to back or side to side when pulled at the seat belt path. Get more tips and resources in the Ultimate Car Seat Guide: http://www.ultimatecarseatguide.org

If you have questions about harnessing your child or installing your car seats, call the Pocomoke City Police Department at (410)957-1600 to set up an appointment with Ptl. Northam, a certified Child Passenger Safety Technician, to get your child's car seat checked for FREE!

"Apple Air Tag" alert from the Pocomoke City Police Department

During the week of 17 January 2022, Pocomoke City Police Officers received information from a concerned citizen in regards to their personal phone being tracked.

The complainant stated they received a message on their iPhone which stated they were being tracked and showed the route of travel history. The complainant was advised to turn off all gps tracking settings on their device in the event that a hacker was able to retrieve information from their phone. (No tracking device was found on the phone or vehicle at this time).

Upon further research, Officers learned that Apple produced a device that has location-tracking capabilities called the Apple Air Tag. These devices measure in size of 32mm x 32mm x 6mm, approximately the size of a half dollar piece.

It is likely these small devices could be placed anywhere on a vehicle which would then track that vehicle's location and routes of travel.

Pocomoke City Police Department wants the community to be aware of devices such as these and if anyone experiences an event such as this to contact the police department.

A Daily Times (Salisbury) news article states:

The issue doesn't involve the city or himself, Brumley said Thursday morning in a phone interview. It also doesn't relate to any litigation or investigation.

Brumley didn't to want comment in detail on the matter "out of respect for the issue," adding more information might become public in the future.
