Stockton Road intersection upgrades-

Preliminary work is underway for intersection improvements at Route 13 and Stockton Road in Pocomoke City. MDOT officials say this project will begin in earnest next week and includes:

  • converting the existing traffic control beacons to a full traffic signal
  • adding signal controls to all movements
  • update signage and pavement markings
  • install LED “Red Signal Ahead” signs in advance of the intersection.

Work will be done between 9 and 3pm Monday through Friday and drivers should expect single-lane closures and traffic cones and arrow boards. Also expect traffic to be impacted with delays during work hours.

Weather permitting, this project is expected to be completed by the end of 2026.

(The Maryland Department of Transportation places the cost of the project at just over 450-thousand dollars.)

Highway patrols increased during the holidays-

Maryland State Police Increasing Patrols Through the New Year 

(PIKESVILLE, MD) – Maryland State Police will be increasing highway safety patrols over the next two weeks as millions of Marylanders hit the roads for holiday travel. 

State Troopers from all 23 barracks will conduct saturation patrols and checkpoints focused on impaired, aggressive and distracted driving. The State Police Impaired Driving Reduction Effort (SPIDRE) team, a specialized unit of trained troopers who are focused on identifying impaired drivers, will also be out patrolling.

Watch Your Speed

Check your speed when riding through Virginia during the Thanksgiving holiday.
Virginia State Police will be out in full force.


The agency says 75 percent of its uniformed work force will be on patrol from 12:01 a.m. Wednesday through midnight Sunday.


Once again Troopers will be participating in Operation Combined Accident Reduction Effort, a nationwide campaign designed to reduce crashes, fatalities and injuries caused by impaired driving, speeding and failure to buckle up.
