Grant for Marva-

 City of Pocomoke City

MAR-VA Theater Receives 2026 Main Street Improvement Grant

The historic MAR-VA Theater is proud to be the recipient of the 2026 Main Street Improvement Grant, funded by the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development.

As an “Aspiring” member of the Main Street Maryland Program, the City of Pocomoke City was awarded grant funding to support beautification and revitalization initiatives throughout the downtown area.

Pocomoke City Mayor Todd J. Nock and Economic Development Director Karah Lacey recently presented Mark Thompson, Director of the MAR-VA Theater, with a check supporting improvements to the theater’s iconic marquee, along with the addition of new signage and murals to enhance the building’s historic facade.

These improvements will help preserve and celebrate the MAR-VA Theater while contributing to the continued revitalization and beautification of downtown Pocomoke City.

We are grateful for this investment in our community and for the continued partnership with the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development.
