Verizon's Accomack County landline service ending?

 

ACCOMACK COUNTY — Verizon is seeking approval from the Federal Communications Commission to phase out traditional copper-based landline service in parts of Virginia and Delaware, including Accomack County.

Verizon has begun notifying some customers that the company could phase out copper service in the county on or after October 23, 2026, pending FCC approval.

AT&T outage

 (WMDT)


DELMARVA – AT&T has reported an outage that is impacting most of the area.

We’re told the estimated restoration time is 3 p.m. Friday.

Emergency Services officials advise anyone with an emergency to utilize a carrier other than AT&T to call 911 or use a landline phone if possible, as AT&T customers may not be able to reach 911.

Verizon Restores Service to Accomack County

The problem has been repaired and Verizon has restored telephone service to Northern Accomack County as of 9:30 Monday morning on August 9th according to ESVA 9-1-1 Director Jeff Flournoy.

The ESVA 9-1-1 Center had asked anyone experiencing emergencies in Northern Accomack County to report to their local fire or EMS station.

Any emergencies can now be reported to 9-1-1.
