New WBOC meteorologist-
Mike Grewe now handles the meteorologist chores on the WBOC weekend morning news.
Chief Meteorologist Mike Lichniak Facebook post:
He’s a local now that lives out near the beach, but grew up in Harford County, Maryland. He has a degree from the University of Maryland in Geography with a concentration in meteorology, but has never utilized it.
He went into sales for 25 years and never got the chance to really fulfill his dream. That is until he moved here and with his kids in college he decided to get that dream job.
He will be with us on the mornings on Saturday and Sunday!

October 31st marked Dan's final regular TV appearance-
(WBOC)
DELMARVA - After 12 years with WBOC, Chief Meteorologist Dan Satterfield is officially retiring.
For more than a decade, award-winning Dan Satterfield has been the weather authority on Delmarva, keeping you in the know and prepared.
“Dan is among the top meteorologists in the country when it comes to television,” Draper Media President Craig Jahelka said.
Satterfield has been on location through hurricanes, blizzards, solar eclipses, and flares of the northern lights to keep neighbors on Delmarva - from Kent County, DE to Accomack County, VA - weather-aware and safe. He has alerted us to flash floods and tornado warnings, icy roads, and everything else Mother Nature has in store on the peninsula.
“We’ve heard from people who tell us that they think they’re alive today because of what Dan Satterfield and WBOC did to give them early warnings,” Jahelka continued.
Though retired to enjoy his love of family, photography, and travel, you can expect to see Dan on the air again - he has happily volunteered to fill in as meteorologist at WBOC when needed.
WBOC and all of Draper Media wish Dan a happy, fulfilling retirement and thank him for his years of service as Delmarva’s most trusted meteorologist. Thank you, Dan!

A change in the weather...man.
WBOC Chief Meteorologist Dan Satterfield soon retiring.
Dan recently posted on his Facebook page:
"Just to let you know that I have a ton of off time to use by the end of October when I retire.
So, starting next week, you will see me very little on the evening broadcasts. I will do the weekend morning weathercasts so my replacement John Conway can have a weekend.
After 44 years and 7 months it is time to call it a career. I am starting the slide into retirement. You will still see me from time to time after October when they need someone, and I will still be teaching at SU.
I am leaving you in VERY good hands. John Conway does nothing but impress me. I wish I had his language ability! He is an exc. forecaster and a VERY good critical thinker who is very well travelled."

Asleep at the wheel?
As most everyone knows, the interview with Harris was Thursday at 9PM. Below is the WBOC.com website page on Friday morning at 1130AM with their top story Harris to do interview.
Was this a technical glitch of some sort? Wasn't anyone at WBOC looking at their own web page to notice this?

Pocomoke radio-
Thanks to PPE reader Jerry Barbierri (AKA Jerry Nichols on WDMV) for keeping us informed about Pocomoke radio and forwarding the following website info.
ABOUT SUNNY 106.5 FM AND 540 WDMV AM
Our Story
540 AM WDMV came on the air August 1st of 1955. 540 AM was Pocomoke's local radio station and served the community well. On August 18, 2022, WDMV (WGOP) was destroyed by a fire caused by a faulty electrical wire in the attic of the studio building. Fifty firefighters took three hours to put out the blaze. The building was not insured and has been declared a total loss, to make matters worse the County ordered the 500FT radio tower located on Dun Swamp Road to be removed over safety concerns. The station returned to the air on July 4th with very limited power on both 540 AM and 106.5 FM. The station is rebuilding and will soon increase power to cover a much larger area on both AM and FM. We thank the local community for supporting Pocomoke's first radio station, 540 WDMV! We are looking to build a new tower and install state of the art equipment to serve the public.
Our Team
Our team is made up of experienced professionals who are passionate about music and radio. We work hard every day to bring you the best content and keep you entertained.

When 540 AM came on the air it was initially WDVM. It was not changed to WDMV until several years later. I seem to remember the change was about 1961 or thereabouts.

Slim

Local TV-
Kudos to WBOC veteran and behind the scenes Assistant News Director Bill Mich on his smooth performances filling in for some of the regular news anchors.
WMDT reporter Leila Weah has been making appearances as a news anchor and appears to be adapting well in that new role.

Local TV-
You won't be seeing reporter Kristina DeRobertis again on WBOC-TV but she won't be far away. She'll be reporting and anchoring news on WRDE, the NBC affiliate based in Milton, De. Both stations are owned by Draper Media.

Where's Alex?
Meteorologist Alex Seymore has moved on from forecasting the weather at local NBC affiliate WRDE. Here is his Facebook post:
After nearly 7 years with Draper Media on WBOC and WRDE, I have decided to leave television to ensure that I have more time to spend with family and friends. While I will no longer be on tv, I do still plan on providing weather updates on Facebook. I recently took a position with Special Olympics Delaware where I will be able to tell the stories of the incredible athletes, coaches, and volunteers through digital media channels. While I will certainly miss my time working in tv, I look forward to this new career path.
Dianne Pullman said...I will miss you, Alex! You were my favorite meteorologist on WRDE. Your smile made me smile. I wish you well in your new endeavors.
