NOTE: DUE TO ANTICIPATED OFF-SHORE WEATHER CONDTIONS DURING THE WEEK THE TOURNAMENT DATES HAVE BEEN EXTENDED TO SUNDAY, AUGUST 10TH.

White Marlin Open starts Monday (8/4)

The White Marlin Open fishing tournament begins Monday, with hundreds of anglers from all over the world fishing three out of five days in the hope of cashing in on some part of about $10 million in prize money.

Tournament prize money will be paid for white marlin, blue marlin, tuna, wahoo, dolphin and swordfish.

Last year's purse was $8.59 million with a $3.7 million dollar payout for the 1st place white marlin. Tournament organizers expect 400 boats to participate this year.

Weigh-ins will be held at Harbour Island, although spectators can also view the action at Marlin Fest, which will be held each day of the tournament at the inlet parking lot and beach from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Michael Jordan's plane spotted in Salisbury ahead of White Marlin Open 2022

The 2022 White Marlin Open is a little more than a week away, and its most famous returning participant appears to have arrived on the Eastern Shore to compete in the world's largest billfishing tournament.

Michael Jordan's plane, which features his famous Air Jordan logo, was spotted at the Salisbury regional airport Friday afternoon.

Jordan's famous Catch 23 boat is also registered to compete in this year's White Marlin Open. This will be the fourth year in a row that His Airness and his crew have competed in the tournament.

White Marlin Open Winner Disqualified

After a lengthy court battle a decision has been handed down in the dispute regarding last year's declared winner of $2.8 million in Ocean City's White Marlin Open Tournament.
