Sheriff Crisafulli was excited to stop by "3rd Friday" in Salisbury and show his support for Eric and Linda Carpenter-Grantham as they continue to spread awareness about Eric’s ID Law.

Named after Eric, a Maryland resident with high-functioning autism, Eric’s ID Law allows individuals with intellectual, developmental, or hidden disabilities to voluntarily add a butterfly designator to their Maryland driver’s license or state ID. The designator helps alert law enforcement and first responders that someone may have a disability that could affect communication during an interaction.

The Worcester County Sheriff’s Office is proud to help spread the word about this important initiative. If you or someone you know has a hidden disability, stop by the Worcester County Sheriff’s Office to pick up a free Hidden Disabilities Awareness envelope, which includes a butterfly button, vehicle and home window stickers, and informational materials.

Cancer Support Workshop!

Salisbury, MD - MAC Inc. is offering a free workshop for people dealing with cancer. The program is open to patients, survivors, and caregivers.

The workshop is called Cancer: Thriving and Surviving. It runs for six weeks, starting Tuesday, September 29, and ending November 3, 2026.

Sessions will be held every Tuesday from 1 to 3:30 p.m. The workshop will take place at MAC, located at 909 Progress Circle in Salisbury.

The program was developed by Stanford University. It is designed to give participants tools to handle the physical and emotional side of cancer.

The goal is to help people live healthier, more active lives while managing their diagnosis. Each week focuses on a different challenge that cancer patients and caregivers often face.

Topics will include sleep problems, pain, stress, and anxiety. Other sessions will cover living with uncertainty, emotions and depression, and changes to the body.

The workshop will also touch on healthy eating, exercise, and fatigue.

These are common struggles for both patients and the people caring for them.

The workshop is free, but spots are limited and registration is required. Anyone interested can contact Robin Ritchie at 410-742-0505, extension 170, or by email at rritchie@macinc.org  .

MAC is the Area Agency on Aging for the Lower Eastern Shore. The organization works to help older adults live with dignity, independence, and good health.

MAC also provides programs and services for individuals with disabilities, caregivers, and families across the region.

Salisbury Cancer Survival Celebration is for all throughout our region-

SALISBURY, Md. — Community members are invited to gather June 4 in Salisbury for an event honoring cancer survivors, patients and caregivers through a celebration focused on hope, healing and resilience.

The annual Cancer Survivor Celebration, hosted by  MAC Inc., is scheduled for Thursday, June 4, from 4 to 5:30 p.m. at the organization’s campus at 909 Progress Circle in Salisbury.

Organizers said the event will feature light refreshments, a survivor story and a butterfly release in MAC’s Healing Garden to recognize those impacted by cancer and celebrate survivorship.

The event is free and open to the public.

According to MAC Inc.’s Cancer Support Services program, the organization offers free support programs and wellness resources for individuals living with cancer and cancer survivors throughout the region.  

Somerset is pilot location for vaccine program-

 

Somerset County Health Department is a pilot location for the newly launched adult vaccine program, announced by Governor Wes Moore.  This program will expand access to critical immunizations for uninsured and underinsured Marylanders. Recommended vaccines will be provided to Marylanders aged 19 and older.

'Dining With Docs' at Dockside-

 

The Atlantic General Hospital Foundation is pleased to announce its upcoming ‘Dining with Docs’ event, to be held Wednesday, September 25, at 12:30 p.m. at Dockside Pocomoke Restaurant.

The event gives participants the opportunity to connect with a medical provider in an informal, relaxed setting, in which they can ask questions and learn about the provider’s area of expertise. The featured provider is Dr. Nikki, PharmD, BC-ADM, CDCES, Atlantic General Hospital’s diabetes education coordinator, who will discuss diabetes management techniques, common myths surrounding diabetes and examples of low-carb snacks and drinks. Dr. Nikki will be open to questions throughout the entirety of the lunch.

Participants will be treated to a buffet-style lunch catered by the host Dockside Pocomoke Restaurant. Admission is $20 per person, and RSVPs can be sent to AGH Foundation’s Michael Cylc at duckltd@aol.com .
