Our Worcester County schools

 

At a recent meeting of the Worcester County Board of Education a number of transfers and administrative appointments were announced effective July 1, 2022

Pocomoke Middle School Assistant Principal Joseph Stigler will transfer to Pocomoke High School, following the retirement of Bryan Perry. 

Pocomoke Middle School’s Reading and Math Interventionist Danielle Jackson was appointed to be the school’s Assistant Principal.

The Pocomoke Model Train Club invites you to stop by the train station at the railroad crossing on 4th street this Friday (5/27) between 5pm and 7pm.  Their train exhibit is under construction but they'll have a few lines running.  It's free.

The 'Other' Chincoteague ponies get attention

The carousel ponies at the Chincoteague carnival grounds got a facelift recently when a group of friends that usually band together to place pony auction bids came together to voluntarily paint the carousel ponies. Above, Steffie Rau, of Bethlehem, Pa., starts to paint a horse from the Chincoteague Volunteer Fire Department carnival carousel.

Pocomoke City Emergency Medical Services

On Sunday, May 22nd, 2022. Members of the Pocomoke community organized a surprise "welcome home" parade for a young man that was injured in a motor vehicle accident a few weeks ago.

 After multiple surgeries and faced with the probability that he may never walk again. This young man defied the odds and not only is walking but was discharged sooner than expected. 

He is well on his way to recovery. The Maryland State Police Berlin Barrack, Worcester County Sheriff's Office Pocomoke City Police, Pocomoke Fire Department, and Pocomoke City Emergency Medical Services as well as numerous motorcycle clubs and citizens participated in the parade.

The young man was quoted as saying" This is the best day of my life"

(Update) Military grade weapons, homemade pipe bombs recovered in Princess Anne home

Saturday PM update:  Maryland State Police have identified the suspect as 43-year-old Clement Renee Grangier III.

During the execution of the Search and Seizure Warrant seven (7) Improvised Explosive Devices, identified as three (3) complete pipe bombs and four (4) improvised explosive hand grenades. Thirty-two firearms, including several military grade weapons were also located in conjunction with additional bomb making materials and firearm parts.

SOMERSET Co., Md – The Somerset County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed for 47ABC, that Maryland State Police recovered homemade pipe bombs in a home located at 11347 Stewart Neck Road.

Go ahead approved for new Greenbackville townhouses

The Accomack County Board of Supervisors Wednesday approved rezoning and a conditional use permit for a proposed mixed-use development with 140 townhouses, planned to be rentals, on property surrounded on three sides by the Captains Cove community. The two 8-1 votes, with Supervisor Paul Muhly voting no, came after public hearings in which 13 Captains Cove residents spoke against the development, citing concerns about the developer’s plan to use Captains Cove’s private road, Captains Corridor, to access the new development and to use Captains Cove’s water and sewer utilities to serve it, among other concerns.
