Following a contentious school board meeting last week, during which many people shared concerns with explicit library books and a Pocomoke High School senior emotionally asked the board to fight for students, the Maryland Association of School Librarians has issued an advocacy alert and a group of local residents has banded together to defend schools.

 is the 4th Annual Crisfield Boat Parade,
6 to 8 pm.
Starts at the marina and passes by the Crisfield City Dock,
 Wellington Beach, American Legion 
and ending at Tawes Nursing Home,
 then back to the marina.
.



 

Parade Route: Main Street at Maddox Boulevard
 to the old Fire House.  Judges Stand is in front of the library.





 


40th Annual Christmas Parade

December 2nd

11a.m. to 1p.m.

The parade begins promptly at 11:00 am
 with an extended route from Old Landing Road
 north to 120th Street. The southbound lanes of
 Coastal Highway are closed for the parade
 in that general area allowing spectators
 to gather curbside.

The parade route is on Market Street. Participants will line up along College Avenue then left on Market to start the parade. The parade will end in front of the Onancock Town Gazebo Park on Market Street.

Package Scam Alert!! Cybercriminals are sending messages claiming lost or late packages via UPS, FedEx and USPS. Be cautious!

Signs of a Scam: 

Unexpected delivery alerts

Urgent claims of lost items

Look for bad grammar and bad spelling

Clickbait links for "resolving" issues

Look at the sender's address and verify it matches the organization

Protect Yourself:

Verify tracking numbers on official websites

Contact the delivery service directly for confirmation

Avoid clicking on suspicious links

When I was coming along official units from Pocomoke City, including PHS Band, Boy Scouts from Troop 143, etc. were never awarded 1st place as a courtesy to guest units.

Winning lottery tickets sold in Pocomoke and Salisbury

 
A lottery ticket sold in Pocomoke last week paid $10,000 to the purchaser.  The Snow Globe 7s ticket was purchased at the Pocomoke Walmart.

In Salisbury a winning $50,000 Cash game ticket and a $10,000 Ultimate Cash ticket were purchased. 

Rec & Parks favors more involvement in the Worcester County Fair

Please be vigilant and protect yourselves and your information during this holiday season.  If you receive any calls that you are weary of, please reach out to us at (410) 651-9225.  With the ability for Scammers to alter or "Spoof" their phone numbers, these scams are getting more difficult to detect.  If something doesn't sound right, it probably isn't.
