Cowger Public Hearing Is Tonight (Tuesday, 6/18/19)

(WMDT-TV)

POCOMOKE, Md. – Former Pocomoke City Manager Bobby Cowger will be having his public hearing Tuesday night.

Cowger was let go by the city back in April and after his request to be reinstated was denied, he exercised his right to have a public hearing.

The hearing will take place at the Pocomoke Middle School on Tuesday at 6 pm.
If you’re looking to speak at that hearing, you’ll need to show up a few minutes early so you can put your name on a list to talk.

People will be able to speak after Cowger and his lawyer Robin Cockey give their presentation.

Each person will have three minutes to voice their opinions.

Bobby Cowger’s Attorney Robin Cockey said, “I’ve been told by the towns attorney that this is our opportunity to make whatever presentation we care to make. So Mr. Cowger will speak, I will speak, the public will have the opportunity to speak, the interesting question will be who will be listening?”

The public hearing will end no later than 9 p.m. Tuesday. 47 ABC will be there as well and have full coverage of the event.

Footnote: The reported sentiment in favor of a consolidated school was premature as strong support in favor of separate schools became evident. The Worcester County Board Of Education and Worcester County Commissioners later jointly agreed on separate new High Schools for Pocomoke and Snow Hill. In March the state legislature passed a bond bill for funding. Preliminary planning for the new schools was underway before the end of the year.
