This Sunday here at The Pocomoke Public Eye..

2007..  Scorchy Tawes, "Wandering this Delmarvalous land" reporter, passed away.

1898..  The Pocomoke  mayor and council are pushing ahead for a complete system of waterworks and sewerage for the town.

1967..  (Ad) Beat the '68 new car price increases at Miller-Massey in Pocomoke. (i.e. new Lincoln Continental for $5,805, new Falcon Club Coupe for $1,897.)

1939..  Workmen in Pocomoke have been busy improving the appearances of some Clarke Avenue businesses.

Big Winning Lottery Ticket Bought In Pocomoke



(Daily Times, Salisbury)

A Maryland Lottery player scored big recently after 
buying a scratch-off ticket on the Eastern Shore.
The winning ticket, which yielded $100,000 in 
prizes, was purchased between Dec. 30 and Jan 5
at Goose Creek on Stockton Road, Pocomoke 
City, according to a Maryland Lottery news release.
Just five other players won $100,000 that week after
purchases in Frederick, Hickory, Odenton and
Waldorf.

Footnote: The article stated that Pocomoke City had some flooding in some of the low parts of town and the water ran off fairly quickly when the rain stopped attributing to the fact that "only" two inches of rain was received in town.  Crisfield received five and a half inches of rain.

Christmas Tree Disposal In Worcester County

Worcester County Offers Christmas Tree Recycling to Residents

SNOW HILL, Md.- The Solid Waste Division of Worcester County will host its annual collection of Christmas trees through Jan. 31, 2020.
Area residents can drop off Christmas trees at the Central Landfill in Newark and the Berlin, Pocomoke, and Snow Hill Homeowners Convenience Centers at no cost.
Businesses and organizations that sold trees will not be permitted to drop off trees at the convenience centers, but may take them to the Central Landfill where applicable tipping fees will be assessed.
The trees will be ground into mulch for use at the Central Landfill.
