New Pocomoke Library?

Pocomoke residents could have access to a new library by late 2025.

County staff this week provided an update to the Worcester County Commissioners regarding the new library set to replace the aging Pocomoke facility. Officials were pleased to learn this week that the state will be funding $3.9 million of the project.

Why does Pocomoke need a new library? Since the advent of the internet book and manuscript usage has declined dramatically. Why are "teen areas" required?
Teens no longer frequent the library, if they ever did; they can be found consulting their cell phones constantly. I'm afraid this is going to be a $3.9 million boondoggle.

Actual costs are over $8 million....$3.9 is the states portion. I am not saying Pocomoke doesn't deserve a new library but a lot of this money can be spent on other needs.
