Residential energy rebates.. not yet.

 

Maryland households will have to wait just a little bit longer for a promised rebate on their energy bills amid the summer heat.

While legislative leaders had said they expected the first payments in July, the Maryland Public Service Commission said Friday that the first round of rebates to all residential energy customers is expected in August or September. A second round is anticipated in either January or February.

Total payments are expected to average about $80 per household for the year.

Legend has it that the first church was to be built at Snow Hill and trees were felled, logs hewn and trimmed, and assembly commenced. The local native Americans, unhappy with the whole affair, snuck in one night, disassembled the half-built church, and tossed the logs into the river.

The settlers were aghast and, as cut and trimmed logs were very valuable, gave chase to them and finally caught up to the timbers at Rehoboth Landing. It was an impossible chore to haul the logs back to Snow Hill, so it was decided to reassemble the structure at Rehoboth and that's why the first Presbyterian church is there and not Snow Hill.

I can't vouch for the veracity of this tale but can state that Colonel William Stevens, of Stevens Landing fame, was very instrumental in bringing Francis Makemie to the New World.

Pocomoke City, MD — Mayor Todd Nock has officially been inaugurated as the 82nd President of the Maryland Municipal League (MML) during the League’s Annual Summer Conference held in Ocean City, Maryland. In a historic moment, Mayor Nock becomes the youngest known president to lead the statewide organization, which represents Maryland’s 157 municipalities and two special taxing districts.

UPDATE: Fatal pedestrian crash under investigation in Snow Hill - 47abc

(Worcester County Sheriff's Office information)

MD Route 12 between Old Furnace Road and Nassawango Road/Whiton Road was closed for an extended period early Friday morning due to a vehicle collision involving a pedestrian fatality near Carmean Road.

Worcester County Sheriff’s Office, Snow Hill Police Department, Pocomoke City Police Department, and EMS personnel were on scene assisting. Maryland State Police are handling the accident investigation, and an accident reconstructionist was on site.
