Within a short time people stated to realize that if the Federal government gives you free money then you have to abide by the rules and regulations promulgated by the benefactor, no matter how frivolous or onerous those rules may be.
This is just Maryland's modern version of revenue sharing. Suck it up, people. If you take money from the State then the State can tell you what to do.

Fire/Rescue/EMS-
The State of Maryland has a new program kicking off this Fall whereby individuals interested in pursuing careers or volunteering in Fire/Rescue/EMS can attend an academy-style training (generally Monday-Friday format) program at MFRI's LESRTC (Maryland Fire and Rescue Institute Lower Eastern Shore Regional Training Center)- you will be paid $15/hour and receive the following courses:
Firefighter I
Firefighter II
Emergency Vehicle Operator
EMT-B
Hazardous Materials Operations.
After successful completion of the course, your name will be distributed to fire departments in the area for possible full-time, part-time, or eligibility placement.
If you are a Pocomoke resident you can apply to volunteer at the Pocomoke Volunteer Fire Company and get paid for the required training.

White Marlin Open starts Monday (8/4)
The White Marlin Open fishing tournament begins Monday, with hundreds of anglers from all over the world fishing three out of five days in the hope of cashing in on some part of about $10 million in prize money.
Tournament prize money will be paid for white marlin, blue marlin, tuna, wahoo, dolphin and swordfish.
Last year's purse was $8.59 million with a $3.7 million dollar payout for the 1st place white marlin. Tournament organizers expect 400 boats to participate this year.
Weigh-ins will be held at Harbour Island, although spectators can also view the action at Marlin Fest, which will be held each day of the tournament at the inlet parking lot and beach from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
