Watch Monday's coverage of Corporal Heacook's funeral

SALISBURY, Md.- Funeral services were held Monday for Cpl. Keith Heacook, the Delmar police officer who died after he was attacked while responding to a fight late last month.

More than 1,000 officers from Delaware, Maryland and other states, along with members of the community that Heacook served, were in attendance for the funeral, which was held at Emmanuel Wesleyan Church in Salisbury.

Due to upper level wind conditions the scheduled Monday evening launch from Wallops was scrubbed and is rescheduled for 805p.m. Tuesday.

My father had the misfortune of being a pupil (not student but a pupil) of Miss Minnie Warren, a spinster sister of Elizabeth. His most frequent descriptions of her included the words "strict", "mean" and "bitter".

A later era but next Sunday's postings include an item about local teacher appointments for 1938. If you attended school in Pocomoke City in the 1940's or 1950's you may remember some of those teachers.

UPDATED: Launch from Wallops

PPE UPDATE:     Saturday's launch was postponed until Sunday.

ATLANTIC, Va.- A mission to explore energy transport in space using a NASA suborbital sounding rocket launching May 8, 2021, from NASA’s Wallops Flight Facility in Virginia may provide a brief light show for residents of the eastern United States and Bermuda.

The mission is scheduled for no earlier than 8:02 p.m. EDT with a 40-minute launch window, Saturday, May 8. Backup launch days run through May 16. The launch may be visible, weather permitting, in much of the eastern United States from the Atlantic coast to the Mississippi River.

This map shows when the rocket may be visible after launch from NASA’s Wallops Flight Facility. Two vapor clouds will form north of Bermuda about 9 minutes and 30 seconds after launch as part of the mission and may also be visible from eastern United States and Bermuda.
