Orioles manager Brandon Hyde was ejected in the third inning of Friday's game with the Minnesota Twins while claiming there was a disrespectful exchange between the home plate umpire and the Baltimore dugout.  The Orioles lost 3-2 on Byron Buxton's walk-off homerun in the ninth.

A tractor trailer overturned on Route 13 in Northampton County near Capeville early Thursday.  The driver wasn't injured.  No word on the cause.

The driver from Temperanceville passed away Wednesday.

Maryland State Police are investigating the cause of a car crash Tuesday that left one man dead and a woman in serious condition.

Troopers arrived to the area of MD 12 south of the Wicomico/Worcester County line around 5:15pm for a reported two vehicle crash. Investigations revealed the victim, Joshua Xavier Capra, 23, of Salisbury was traveling northbound on RT 12 when he crossed the center line into the southbound lane striking another car driven by Emani Press, 21, of Temperanceville.

Capra was pronounced dead at the scene. Press was transported to Tidal Health in Salisbury with life threatening injuries.

Any witnesses to the crash are asked to contact the Maryland State Police Berlin Barrack.

OC Police statement on rabid raccoon attacks

 


On June 22, 2022, Ocean City Officers were flagged down by a female in the area of 139th Street to report that she had been attacked by a rabid raccoon. The female was treated by Ocean City EMS on the scene for injuries to her hand. The raccoon was not immediately located.

Approximately five hours later, a second female called 911 to report that she was attacked by a rabid raccoon in the area of 141st Street. Officers responded and met with the victim. She was transported to Atlantic General Hospital by Ocean City EMS for several injuries from the attack. Officers established a perimeter in an attempt to corral the raccoon.

Animal Control responded to the scene and was able to capture the raccoon. Below is the latest update from the Worcester County Health Department.

A CONFIRMED RABID RACCOON FOUND IN THE AREA AROUND 141st STREET, OCEAN CITY, MARYLAND
Worcester County Health Department has confirmed a raccoon in Ocean City tested positive for rabies this week. The raccoon had attacked two people in the early morning hours of June 23, 2022 in the area surrounding 141st Street.

Health department officials warn that any person, pet or other animal that may have had contact with this raccoon could be at risk for rabies exposure. To report any contact with or exposure to the raccoon, call the Worcester County Health Department immediately at 410-352-3234. If you call after hours or on the weekend, call Worcester County Emergency Services at 410-632-1311 to reach the health department on-call staff.

If a person has been bitten or scratched, they should seek immediate medical care. Post-exposure treatment is necessary to prevent rabies.  If not treated, rabies is fatal.  If a pet has had contact with this raccoon, contact your veterinarian immediately.

A NASA suborbital sounding rocket was launched early Friday morning from Wallops carrying dozens of experiments by university students. Many of the students were on hand to watch the liftoff.

Heading home to Snow Hill

On June 21, 2022, the Black-Eyed Susan was towed back to Snow Hill from Norfolk, Virginia. The plan is to use it as a restaurant being permanently docked. Here it is going through Pocomoke City.

Original plans dashed- OC comes up with new July 4th holiday events schedule

OCEAN CITY, Md.-Town officials have new plans for visitors and residents this 4th of July.

This comes after officials received news the firework company contracted to provide fireworks for two of their shows backed out. They were informed last week that this was due to lack of certified personnel and inventory. In response, the town scrambled to make a new plan.
