Time Machine: 100 years ago in Pocomoke's newspaper; early 1900's Pocomoke High School, 2001.

(A-I says:)

The wooden version of Pocomoke High School on Walnut Street was still in use for third and fourth grades when I was a lad, probably about 1957 to maybe 1959. First and second grades were housed in the "new" brick building, third and fourth grades in the old wooden structure and some classes (not sure which grades) held in the Masonic Hall on Walnut Street.

I remember the cornerstone for the "new" high school was laid in 1957 and eventually held seventh grades through twelfth while the "old" high school on Market Street would eventually hold third through sixth grades. This went a long way to ease overcrowding, at least until the fire and destruction of the "old" high school on Market Street.
