Rocket Launch From NASA Set For Thursday Morning
A Terrier-Orion suborbital sounding rocket is set to launch from NASA on Thursday June 24th between 6:00 AM and 9:00 AM. The rocket will be the culmination of eleven experiments by different universities which where developed in a week long workshop where partakers learned how to build small experiments which can be launched onto suborbital rockets. A back up launch has been scheduled between June 25 and June 28.
The launch will be visible to people along the Wallops area and people along northern seaside coastal areas. NASA will open its Visitor Center at 5:00 AM for people wishing to view the launch.
The launch will be web cast beginning at 5 a.m. on launch day at: http://sites.wff.nasa.gov/webcast. Launch status can be followed on Twitter at: www.Twitter.com/NASA_Wallops.
Launch status also is available at the Wallops launch status line at 757-824-2050. Further information on the mission is available on the Internet at: www.nasa.gov/wallops.

PayPal Millionaire's Rocket Blasts Off On 1st Test Flight
SpaceX's brand new Falcon 9 rocket soared off its Cape Canaveral launch pad Friday afternoon. It's carrying a mock-up of the company's spacecraft, named Dragon. The goal is to put the capsule into orbit.
The first attempt to launch the rocket was aborted in the final few seconds earlier Friday.
NASA hopes to use the Falcon-Dragon combo for hauling cargo and possibly astronauts to the International Space Station, once the shuttles stop flying. The first supply run could come next year.
SpaceX — or Space Exploration Technologies — was founded eight years ago by Elon Musk, a South African-born entrepreneur who co-founded PayPal.

NASA Rocket Launch A Success
The rocket launch yeaterday at Wallops Flight Facility was a success.
The flights main goal was to test the new improved Malemute rocket motor along with carrying two cubesats* developed by university students in Kentucky, Moorehead State, the Naval Academy and California to collect data as its second goal.
Even with the wind playing a small role the Terrier-Improved Malemute uborbital sounding rocket was launched from Wallops Flight Facility at 10:09:56 EDT. 72 seconds into the launch the cubesats ejected from the rocket and as they fell collected data to be used for research by the students.
The rocket flew lower than expected but Kenutcky confirmed that they were able to get data. At 10:21:35 EDT there was a loss of signal from the rocket which indicated splashdown and success!
I'm not sure what our friends Carrie and Gerald witnessed (or felt) yesturday since rocket launches are very visable from their backyard but from my backyard, eight miles away and unlike some launches) there was hardly any sound and just a vapor trail.
