(Later in the 1900's the Veasey Building was home to two department stores- JC Penney with an entrance on Market Street and Montgomery Ward with an entrance on Clarke Avenue.  A Time Machine article later this month will tell of
another department store opening in Pocomoke City soon after the Hargis opening.)

2/11 UPDATE re No go for Friday's launch from Wallops

There was no launch attempt Saturday morning and no immediate word about a rescheduling date.

NASA Wallops sounding rocket launch scrubbed on Friday.

NASA says it's now evaluating weather conditions for a possible launch on Saturday, February 11. Through if the launch were to happen on Saturday, there will be no livestream and the visitor center will not be open for viewing.

Home to "Gently Used Clothing And Treasures"


This little brick building on Third Street in Pocomoke City is home to "The Attic," operated by St. Mary's Episcopal Church with proceeds of sales donated to a variety of local helping hand causes in the Pocomoke area.

"The Attic" is open most Saturdays, 9a.m. to 1p.m. Stop in sometime and take a look.  Merchandise donations are welcomed.

Minor earthquake off Eastern Shore coast

ASSATEAGUE ISLAND - The United States Geological Survey says a 2.6 magnitude earthquake struck 18 miles off the coast.

According to the USGS, the earthquake struck around 8:21 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 8. Officials say it originated about 30 kilometers (around 18 miles) east of Greenbackville, Virginia and was 11.2 kilometers (around 6 miles) deep.

It is unlikely that the earthquake would be felt by anyone due to the magnitude.
