Eastern Shore (Virginia) Editorial
Perhaps you may have observed that when most Eastern Shore of Virginians refer to "The Eastern Shore" they're not referring to the Delmarva peninsula but specifically to the Eastern Shore of Virginia.
With that in mind- in this week's Eastern Shore Post, (Virginia) the editor gives his take on "Updating the Eastern Shore Racial Relations Scorecard."

Saturday Rain or Shine Events!
Pocomoke City Volunteer Fire Company2023 Open House & 1923 American LaFrance 100th Birthday
This event is RAIN OR SHINE! Most of our displays & exhibits are indoors.
The car show will be called on Friday. In the event of a cancelation due to rain, the car show will be rescheduled.
The Chicken BBQ has been rescheduled for Saturday October 21st with dinners serving at 11am. We are still planning to offer food & drinks at the open house on the 14th.
Instead of a fire extinguisher prop - the fire marshal's office will have their fire safety trailer available for us (it will be indoors)
We will make a determination on pumping the 1923 on the day of the event based on conditions.

Electricity for Smith and Tangier Islands
The following news items bring attention that providing and updating electrical service to Smith and Tangier Islands is an ongoing endeavor.
The first item below is from today's Shore Daily News.
The second is a news story from 1947 that, coincidentally, we had just come across this past weekend while researching archives for our weekly Pocomoke Public Eye "Time Machine" feature.
