Footnote: (An actual "Time Machine" experience.) There was a time when the state of Virginia remained on Eastern Standard Time all year long. I was living in Pocomoke and had to be to work at 530 a.m. about 30 miles away at WESR radio on the Eastern Shore of Virginia. So while Maryland was on Daylight Savings Time (one hour ahead of Virginia) I could leave Pocomoke at 6 a.m. and arrive at work at 530 a.m.  But payback for that convenience came on my return trip home.
When I arrived back in Pocomoke after the half-hour drive the time was an hour and a half later then when I left work in Virginia. -tk

1956..  It seems there's endless press coverage of actress Grace Kelly's upcoming marriage to Prince Rainier of Monaco.

1977..  14-year-old Romanian gymnast Nadia Comaneci becomes known to the world as she wins three gold medals at the Montreal Olympics with seven perfect scores.
