63 warrants closed in "Spring Sting"
EXMORE, Va. (WAVY) - On May 22-23, multiple law enforcement officers executed a crime sweep on the Eastern Shore.
More than 50 officers were involved, including Virginia State Police, Accomack Sheriff’s Office, Northampton County Sheriff’s Office, Eastern Shore Drug Task Force, Exmore Police Department, DEA, Homeland Security Investigations, Cape Charles Police Department and surrounding state, local and federal law enforcement agencies.
“This was a tremendous team effort and we give credit to the cooperation of all agencies involved in making this a successful round-up” said Robert “Bobby” Mathieson, U.S. Marshal for the Eastern District of Virginia.
The sweep was targeted around fugitives wanted for drugs, sex offender violations, robbery, rape, grand larceny, theft and miscellaneous misdemeanor offenses, and encompassed areas including Northampton and Accomack counties.
