Scout Sunday 2013 ~ A Scout Is Reverent

During the Scouting Anniversary Week in February, Scouts around the world honor this important point of the Scout Law by celebrating "Scout Sunday" or "Scout Sabbath".

Units throughout the Del-Mar-VA Council will celebrate Scout Sunday on February 3 or 10, 2013. Scouts and Scouters are asked to wear their Field Uniforms (class A) to their places of worship in celebration of the 103rd Anniversary of the Boy Scouts of America.

Boy Scouts of America was founded February 8, 1910.

Had a wonderful evening with the leaders and youth of Pack 143 on Saturday night. Mayor Morrison presented a proclamation to the Pack recognizing scout week on behalf of the Mayor and City Council.

Councilman Clarke reviewed briefly how scouting is a multi-generational tradition in many families, including the Clarke family with mementos of his and his sons scouting years.

Steve Hammond of WBOC was the keynote speaker and presented an inspirational talk aimed specifically at the young cub scouts about how they can have a tremendous impact on their communities.

Food and skits were all excellent. Thanks to the leaders and boys for the invitation to attend their annual Blue & Gold Dinner.
