Virginia Fire Company Treasurer Arrested For Embezzlement

James R. Morris, 82, of Onley who served as treasurer of the Onley Volunteer Fire and Rescue Company was taken into custody Wednesday without incident. 

Morris arrested on multiple counts of embezzling funds intended for the use in operations  of the Onley Volunteer Fire and Rescue Company  following a State Police investigation  initiated by a Virginia State Police Special Agent  in November 2012. The embezzlement occurred over a period of several years.

As a result of the investigation, an Accomack County Grand Jury returned nine counts of embezzlement against the fire company's treasurer (James R. Morris)

Morris was released on a $1,000 bond from the Accomack County Jail and the investigation is continuing.
