The store is owned by baker, Nicole Ayres, of Virginia, and her tight-knit family is always there to lend a hand. The bakery sits at 205 Clarke Avenue, in beautiful Downtown Pocomoke.
Saturday, July 21
Ayres will host a grand opening and open house, along with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The city is blocking off a portion of Clarke Avenue, between Market and Willow Streets, for the event. Ayres is inviting the public to sample her confections by creating a festive block-party-like atmosphere. There will be free refreshments, music, and plenty of activities for children, including face-painting, cupcake-decorating, sidewalk chalk art, and a cupcake-eating contest.

Local business owners and public officials will be on hand and a number of exciting door prizes – provided by at least fourteen local downtown businesses – will be distributed.

 Event begins at 12:00pm
and will wrap-up by 2:00pm, with the ribbon-cutting scheduled for 12:15pm.

Cole’s Cakes specializes in custom-ordered cakes for all special occasions, and they offer a variety of cupcakes flavors, cookies and "cake-pops," baked fresh daily. They will work with any budget and they will attempt any flavor. "We love a challenge," says owner, Nicole Ayres.

Cole’s Cakes grand opening marks another milestone in the city’s efforts to attract new businesses to Pocomoke’s downtown as it repositions itself as a tourist destination. Members of the community who are interested in learning more about Cole’s Cakes, or other downtown businesses, are encouraged to stop by on Saturday.

Cole's Cakes has already been awarded "Honorable Mention"/3rd Best Bakery on Delmarva on DelmarvaLife's Best of 2012 list!

Downtown Farmers Market Extended Into Saturday....

The PPE would like to welcome Angela Manos to Pocomoke City as the new downtown coordinator.

FARMERS AND FLEA MARKET
 EXTENDED TO SATURDAYS
Downtown Pocomoke City

Visitors to the eastern shore will want to be sure to stop by the ever-expanding Pocomoke City Farmers & Flea Market.   Due to popular demand, Pocomoke City announced that it will add an additional day to its Farmers & Flea Market.  The well-attended outing has been growing for the past several years, and as a result, the city is now opening the event on Saturdays, while maintaining the regular Friday schedule.

In addition to the usual offering of fresh local produce and abundance of costume jewelry you might find at similar venues, Pocomoke’s market hosts a wide variety of unique items, like fishing equipment, hand-carved birds and knives, Civil War relics, and wholesale homegrown plants, shrubbery and flowers.  Visitors will also find a plethora of used books, tools, electronic equipment, quilts, toys, clothing, and accessories, including Vera Bradley handbags.

Rick Fish, of Rick Fish Antiques & Decoys, is a regular vendor at Pocomoke’s Farmers & Flea Market.  Rick has been a “picker” since he was a kid and a bird carver for fifty-two years.  According to Rick, Pocomoke’s size and location are desirable.  “Pocomoke’s location is beautiful and comfortable, by the river, said Rick.  “I find it an enjoyable place to sell my goods.  It is one of the safer places I come to and I have made a lot of friends here over the years.  The people are friendly and the environment is relaxing,” said Rick.  He has been in the antiquing business for thirty-one years and has been working flea markets for the past fifteen.  He is pleased that Pocomoke City will be expanding the Farmers and Flea Market to Saturdays and thinks it will bring more visitors to Pocomoke’s downtown.

Mayor Bruce Morrison said that he is excited about the plan to expand the Famers & Flea Market.  “The downtown area is one of my major priorities as mayor and something I spoke about frequently when I campaigned for this office.  The expansion will bring more visitors to our beautiful downtown area,” he said.

Beginning Saturday, July 9,
Pocomoke City’s Farmers & Flea Market
will be open from 7:00am until 1:00pm.

This is in addition to the same hours on Friday.
The event is free to both the public and vendors.
Vendors pay no fee and set-up is on a first-come-first-serve basis.

The market is held at: 3 Market Street, in the downtown historic district of Pocomoke City, across the street from the Delmarva Discovery Center, and next to the Nature Trail on the Pocomoke River.

Try "Thirty-One Gifts" For Gift Ideas

Thirty-One Gifts is more than a Home Party Company.

Thirty-One believes in encouraging, recognizing and rewarding others for who they are.  They are committed to providing women with a fulfilling, enjoyable and rewarding shopping and work experience.

Thirty-One offers a beautiful selection of gifts and accessories that are stylish, useful and affordable.  From well-designed handbags, totes, stationary and much more, you will always find something unique and different for your family, friends and yourself.

Thirty-One was founded by a lady named Cindy Monroe.  She was working full time in corporate America and trying to manage a husband, 2 children, home church, kids activities and still trying to find time for herself.  Her busy lifestyle made it hard for her to visit the little gift boutiques where all the great products are.  So, she decided that it was time for working moms, single women and even grandmothers to get a chance to shop on their own terms.  It was from this passion that Thirty-One was born.

Faith is the foundation of Thirty-One Gifts.

The name, Thirty-One was derived from Proverbs Chapter 31, where it talks about the characteristics of a good woman as being virtuous, business minded and taking care of her family.

The Thirty-One mission remains constant:
Celebrate, Encourage and Reward.

Sincerely,
Dawn Bloxom (Thirty-One Consultant)www.mythirtyone.com/bloxom
