Twas' The Night Before Christmas in Pocomoke City
Twas' the night before Christmas
And throughout Worcester County
Children were snug in their beds
Awaiting Santa's good bounty.
The Eastern Shore hour was late
When all should be sleeping.
But to no one's surprise
Some sure were peeping.
The jolly ol' elf isn't far away
They all knew.
Maybe he's in Accomack, Somerset,
Or Wicomico, too.
They hoped that with decorations
Making everything pretty,
Santa certainly would visit
Pocomoke City!
Then from Second Street Extended
To Stockton Road,
Santa's sleigh was spotted
With all its good load.
And from the river bridges
To the Virginia line,
He made all his stops
Hoping to make everything fine.
All the children were sure
That when they awoke,
They would find good things
Left by Santa in Pocomoke!

WMDT news anchor moving on-
WMDT news anchor Han Cechini is leaving for a new job as a media specialist for the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development. Han has been with the local station since 2020.

Utility SCAM-
⚠️ SCAM ALERT ⚠️
The Worcester County Sheriff’s Office wants to warn the community about electric company scams. Scammers are posing as utility companies and demanding immediate payment, often threatening to shut off power.
👉 Utility companies do NOT:
• Demand payment by gift cards, wire transfer, or payment apps
• Ask for personal or banking information unexpectedly
• Pressure you to make a payment immediately or refuse to let you verify the account
If you receive a suspicious call, hang up immediately. If you need to verify information related to your bill, contact your electric company directly using the number on your bill or another verified number.

It is revealing how many of the young boys requested boots from Santa Claus. Boots, just plain boots. Today they would be disappointed if they did not receive the latest I-Phone or Nintendo switch. Footwear is just taken for granted when 100 years ago it could be a luxury.

tkforPPE says: I've noticed that other highly requested items appearing in old Letters to Santa are fruit (oranges and apples), nuts and raisins. Perhaps due to availability and/or price these "goodies" were not plentiful in many homes.

Remember Weijia and Hallie?
Weijia Jiang, a Senior White House Correspondent for CBS News, filled in as anchor of the network's evening news Friday. (12/18 was the last day at the anchor's desk for the team of John Dickerson and Maurice Dubois; Tony Dokoupil will be the new anchor.)
Weijia began her career on the Eastern Shore at WBOC in 2006. Later she made stops in Baltimore and New York along a path that led her to CBS. She will be president of the White House Correspondents Association in 2026.
Hallie Jackson of NBC News also started her career in 2006 at WBOC. Like Weijia, Hallie is a Senior White House Correspondent. She appears in other high visibility positions as well for NBC.

Are the odds of making it from a small TV market like the Eastern Shore to a nationwide network similar to winning the lottery? Maybe or maybe not but, to their credit, these two young women have exercised their abilities to the utmost to get there.

New Chesapeake Bay Bridge spans-
The Maryland Transportation Authority Board Thursday approved plans (Alternative C Plan) for replacing the current Chesapeake Bay Bridge spans with two new four-lane spans and widening US 50/301 to eight lanes with four traveling in either direction. Agency and public comments will be received beginning early next year with the Federal Highway Administration determining a recommendation later.
It is very easy for the MTA to recommend and approve plans for two bridges, each carrying four lanes. The proof will be if it actually happens. Significantly, while MTA approves, it offers no viable way to pay for this project, and we all know that the State of Maryland is just overflowing with extra money these days.
