"Suddenly It's 1960!" and then...

Older senior citizens may recall this:

In the Fall of 1948, members of the future Pocomoke High School graduating class of 1960 climbed the wooden steps up the old school on Walnut Street to begin their school careers.

And then, "Suddenly it's 1960!"

And then, suddenly it's 2026 and numerous members of the PHS class of '60 met at Don's Seafood in Pocomoke this past weekend to reminisce about their school days of 66+ years ago and to catch up on current goings-on in their former classmate's lives... and looking forward to their next group get-together in October 2027!

Grant for Marva-

 City of Pocomoke City

MAR-VA Theater Receives 2026 Main Street Improvement Grant

The historic MAR-VA Theater is proud to be the recipient of the 2026 Main Street Improvement Grant, funded by the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development.

As an “Aspiring” member of the Main Street Maryland Program, the City of Pocomoke City was awarded grant funding to support beautification and revitalization initiatives throughout the downtown area.

Pocomoke City Mayor Todd J. Nock and Economic Development Director Karah Lacey recently presented Mark Thompson, Director of the MAR-VA Theater, with a check supporting improvements to the theater’s iconic marquee, along with the addition of new signage and murals to enhance the building’s historic facade.

These improvements will help preserve and celebrate the MAR-VA Theater while contributing to the continued revitalization and beautification of downtown Pocomoke City.

We are grateful for this investment in our community and for the continued partnership with the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development.

That's a lot of doctors for such a small town. I can remember when Pocomoke was down to only two practicing physicians, and that was in the 1970's.
