Home Invasion Dreamland Trailer Park

The Accomack County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a home invasion at a residence in Dreamland Trailer Park shortly before 4:30 a.m. Tuesday.

According to Sheriff Larry Giddens, several suspects had entered the trailer and were spotted, at which time shots were exchanged between the suspects and the victims. The victims were wounded and the suspects fled prior to deputies’ arrival, according to the sheriff. He said one victim was taken by Parksley Ambulance to Shore Memorial Hospital as his wife, who sustained minor injuries, followed in a personal vehicle. Both victims have been treated and released.

Giddens said the investigation is continuing.

In other crime news, Elton Lewis Merritt III, 19, of Cape Charles was charged by Northampton deputies with malicious wounding, shooting into an occupied vehicle, and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, all in connection with a May 30 incident. According to Northampton County Sheriff Jack Robbins, Merritt is being held in Eastern Shore Regional Jail with bond denied.
