Rest In Peace Bloxom Firefighter David R. Chew, Jr.

A Firefighter lost in the line of duty not only deeply saddens a family and friends but the surrounding communities as well.  It strikes the core of every firefighter for miles.

Firefighter David R. Chew, Jr. of Parksley  and member of  the Bloxom Vol. Fire Company lost his life in the line of duty this morning  on Nelsonia Road while responding to an emergency in Gargatha, Va.

David is also a medic with the Northampton County Emergency Medical Service along with  rescue lieutenant and member of Bloxom Fire  Volunteer Fire Company's board of directors.  He had just become the new pastor for Hallwood  United Methodist Church.

His many years of  dedicated and unselfish service to the communities will never be forgotten.

Our  thoughts and prayers go out to his family, many friends  and to all the firefighters that so proudly served with him.
