PUBLIC’S HELP SOUGHT IN BURGLARY INVESTIGATIONS

(NORTH EAST, MD) – Maryland State Police criminal investigators in Cecil County are seeking the public’s help in identifying and arresting the person or persons responsible for a number of nighttime burglaries that have occurred in the North East area.

Maryland State Police Criminal Enforcement Division investigators assigned at the North East Barrack are investigating nine burglaries that have occurred since early November and have similarities in how and when they were committed. Entry is being made through windows or doors, whichever seems to offer the least resistance at the particular home. Police believe more than one suspect may be involved. Four of the burglaries have occurred in the Lake Side Trailer Park. All have occurred in the North East area.
Five of the burglaries occurred while residents were in their homes sleeping. No one awoke to confront the suspect or suspects and no one has been injured during the burglaries.

Anyone with information about the suspect or suspects responsible for these burglaries is urged to contact Maryland State Police criminal investigators at the North East Barrack at 410-996-7800. Callers may remain anonymous.

The burglaries under investigation by State Police include:


1) 11/04/13 - between 2:00 p.m. and 9:30 p.m.
400-block of Champlain Rd.
Electronic equipment was stolen.

2) 11/30/13 – 9:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. on 12/01/13
100-block of West Huron Ct.
Nothing was stolen.

3) 12/03/13 – between 7:00 a.m. and 4:40 p.m.
100-block of Forge Ct.
Electronic equipment was stolen.

4) 12/07/13 – between 1:00 a.m. and 4:30 a.m.
2200-block of Pulaski Highway
Personal items and electronic equipment were stolen.

5) 12/17/13 – between 5:00 a.m. and 5:30 a.m.
100-block of Ontario Ct.
Cash and personal items were stolen.

6) 12/18/13 – between 2:30 a.m. and 6:00 a.m.
Unit-block of Creedmore Lane
Cash was stolen.

7) 12/27/13 – at about 12:00 p.m.
100-block of Philipe Lane
Electronic equipment was stolen.

8) 01/12/14 – at about 2:00 a.m.
200-block of North East Rd.
Personal items were taken.

9) 01/26/14 - at about 4:00 a.m.
400-block of Champlain Rd.
Cash was stolen.

State Police are reminding residents in the area to be certain to lock and secure all doors and windows, especially at night. Keeping porch lights on at night and being observant of suspicious persons or circumstances at all times are also advisable. Residents are urged to look out for each other and to call 911 immediately if suspicious persons or circumstances are observed. Troopers are coordinating investigative efforts with the Cecil County Sheriff’s Office. Detectives there are investigating additional burglaries similar to the State Police cases.

The investigation is continuing.
