We are still expecting a few more donations but are just so thankful to everyone that participated, donated, assisted, told a friend, bought a raffle ticket, bought a meal, etc., etc., etc.

Special thanks to Paul Hughes for his diligent efforts each year in putting this remarkable fundraiser together for the benefit of the Samaritan Shelter.

Special thanks to our sponsors: Don's Seafood & Chicken House, Sysco Eastern Maryland, Eastern Shore Lanes & Restaurant, and Hickman HVAC & Plumbing.

Why do they call it Shrove Tuesday when it's really Mardi Gras? Why eat pancakes when you can eat King cake, oysters and bacon and drink rum?

A New Mini-Park and "Community Giving Garden" ~ At the Hands Of Volunteers

Downtown Pocomoke City, Maryland

The gazebo that mysteriously appeared one fine day on the corner of Second and Market Streets is part of a new mini-park.

When completed the small park will include seating, a bike rack, trees, flowers, various other plants  and an information station.

In an effort to get the youth involved in their downtown, high school students will be doing the gardening.  In fact, they were supposed to begin tomorrow but I just received word that some of those students have already been to the corner lot TODAY and have planted shrubs and grasses in the area.

ALSO.....
Who wants to garden???

Two charitable and creative Pocomoke residents are starting a "Community Giving Garden" downtown. Location of this garden will be on city owned property at  the corner of Willow and Clarke Avenues.

Groundbreaking will be within the next two weeks.

The food harvested from the garden will be donated to the Samaritan Shelter and needy Pocomoke families.

If you are interested in volunteering your time - or if you are a business and would like to donate lumber or other gardening needs - please contact: downtownpocomoke@gmail.com

"Good Neighbor Day" Held At Enchanted Florist

Things have really been happening in downtown Pocomoke!

Last week the Enchanted Florist on Market Street downtown held a "Good Neighbor Day" with all donations going to the Pocomok City Samaritan Shelter. (They also gave away free roses).

Here is what they collected!

136 packaged food items, paper towels, toilet paper, plates, cups, and several cash donations!

GREAT JOB!!!
So many seem to forget that the Samaritan Shelter is even there.......

I'm sure those at Enchanted Florist  won't turn any donations away........you might not get the free rose but your donation, large or small, will go towards a very worthy cause.

Organizations Working Together For A Better Community

POCOMOKE CITY, Md. --Members of the Midway family recently pitched in to help the Samaritan Shelter of Pocomoke at the first Tom Wall Pancake Supper.

Volunteers from Midway GM/Toyota --alongside representatives from host Lynnhaven Baptist Church of Pocomoke -- cooked and served pancakes, eggs, bacon, and sausage for more than 200 hungry supporters.

The event raised critical funds for the shelter, which helps people in crisis achieve self-reliance in a structured, supportive environment.

According to Midway spokesperson Susanna Annis, "Everyone from the Midway family enjoyed helping this great organization -- it's wonderful to be able to give back to the community that does so much to support us."
