06/23/2012 Hakeem McBride, age 22 of Pocomoke was arrested for False Imprisonment and Disorderly Conduct. He was taken before the commissioner and released on personal recognizance.

06/24/2012 Hakeem McBride, age 22 of Pocomoke was arrested for Failure to obey a lawful order, Assault 2^nd degree, Reckless Endangerment, Abduct a child under 12 and Resist/Interfere with arrest. He was taken before the commissioner and released on personal recognizance.

06/26/2012 Steven Ennis, age 29 of Pocomoke was arrested for Theft less than $500, Theft less than $100 and Theft scheme $1,000-$10,000. He was taken before the commissioner and held on $7,000 bond.

06/28/2012 Anthony Pioli, age 32 of Bloxom VA was arrested for Handgun in vehicle. He was taken before the commissioner and released on personal recognizance.

06/28/2012 Phillip Justice, age 29 of Temperenceville VA was arrested for CDS Posses-Not Marihuana, CDS Possess with intent to Distribute, CDS W/I Dist.: Narc, CDS Poss. Paraphernalia, CDS Possession Marihuana. He was taken before the commissioner and released on personnel recognizance.

06/28/2012 Marcus Cropper, age 18 of Pocomoke was arrested for CDS Posses-Not Marihuana, CDS Possess with intent to Distribute, CDS W/I Dist.: Narc, CDS Poss. Paraphernalia, CDS Possession Marihuana. He was taken before the commissioner and released on personnel recognizance.

06/29/2012 Charles Collins, age 58 of Pocomoke was arrested for open container alcohol violation. He was issued a criminal citation and released on his signature pending trial.

POCOMOKE CITY TO JOIN CITIES NATIONWIDE FOR

“AMERICA’S NIGHT OUT AGAINST CRIME”

On Tuesday, August 7th, neighborhoods throughout Pocomoke City are being invited to join forces with thousands of Communities nationwide for the “29^th Annual National Night Out” (NNO) crime and drug prevention event. National Night Out, which is sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch (NATW) and co-sponsored locally by the City of Pocomoke and Pocomoke City Police Department, will involve over 11,000 communities from all 50 States, U.S. territories, Canadian cities and military bases around the world. In all, over 35 million people are expected to participate in “America’s Night Out Against Crime” on August 7, 2012.

National Night Out is designed to: (1) Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness; (2) Generate support for, and participation in, local anticrime efforts; (3) Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police- community partnerships; and (4) Send a message to criminals letting them know neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.

From 6 PM to 9 PM on Tuesday August 7, 2012, residents in neighborhoods throughout Pocomoke City and across the nation are asked to lock their doors, turn on outside lights and spend the evening outside with neighbors and POLICE. We encourage neighbors throughout Pocomoke City to hold special events such as cookouts, parades, flashlight walks, contests, youth activities and anticrime rallies.

Pocomoke City Police Chief Kelvin D. Sewell and his wife Rhonda. It was so wonderful to finally meet her. I knew there had to be a strong woman behind that smile Chief Sewell almost always wears. Maybe she should write a book. Being the wife of a Baltimore City Homicide Detective could not have been an easy task. I just can't help but wonder about her long dark nights. How many times did she have to appear brave, keep a smile, bite her tongue and hold back tears sitting at home while waiting for her husband to finish a case to the point he could return home. How many times were important family matters put on hold? How many sleepless night.

On the Dedication page of "Why Do We Kill" Chief Sewell writes that his wife Rhonda once stated "The Police Department took my husband away from me years ago."

Here's hoping that now with your husband being Chief of the Police Department in Pocomoke City you have gotten back your husband. Oh, there's still crime, his responsibilities are there. But being in Pocomoke has to make all the difference in the world.....for all of you. My very best to all of you.

I appreciate everything minute of your time you have given to me and you will never know exactly how proud I am of all of you. If there are days when you think those around you are not grateful for everything you do remember always that I do. There's going to be plenty of hustle-bustle between the old Pocomoke City Police Dept. on Second Street and their new location on Market Street this week!

And have no fear! I'm quite sure those ugly, over grown shrubs from the previous landscaping will be transformed into another work of pleasant greeneries.

I will provide links later that go back to the first days of renovations in the former body shop building.

Just a little more time and the Pocomoke City Police Department will be opening in the new location on Market Street.

This building is quite different from the current police station on Second Street. From the first step inside the front door (or the back door if that seems to be your preference) the new facility is astounding! I've watched this building go from a body shop to the professional establisment that it is. I know how excited everyone is ..... including myself.


Photo above was taken in what will be the conference room. At the present time it is serving for the delivery of office furnitue.

The Pocomoke City Council alloted a certain amount of funds to be used to purchase new furniture and supplies. The monies have been used very wisely and Angel Thornes, the Executive Administrative Assistant for the Pocomoke City Police Dept., has done a grand job in her selection of office supplies, desks and chairs for the various offices. Angel has also been one of the many that have poured their heart and soul into this move. She deserves so much credit and on the day Councilman Malloy and I stopped by she took the time to give us the tour just to show us how much progress has been made.

I'm not going to tell everything I learned from Angel - I'm going to let the police department brag on their new facility. The most amazing room in the new station? The radio room. The department has bigger screens that produce larger images making it easier to see what cameras in various parts of town send. Because of the location of the new police department radio transmissions will be clearer. One of the images will be of the bay area located in the back of the station. The dispatcher will be able to view the officer as he approaches. With the touch of a button - just like a garage door opener- the doors open in the back of the building, freeing the time an officer would have to spend fumbling for keys to unlock the doork, get back in his patrol car and pull into the garage..... a feature the police department has never had before.


My venture would never be complete without stopping by the current police department.
It's always a pleasure to see Chief Sewell and on this day met Officer Perkins. What a great person and true asset to the department.

I also need to say this. I've watched the new station become a reality. I've met some of the most wonderful people in the past few months. These are good, hard working men. I've seen them hanging from metal beams, walking on stilts, crawling on their knees.....never complaining. I've been locked in a cell, tip toed around newly glued tiles and watched wax dry.

In the past months I've seen the changes in the Pocomoke City Police Department. Recently I had the occasion to meet more of the police officers. This IS a new and improved department! And based on what has been happening in Pocomoke City lately you can believe they "work well with others" .

Other agencies from Virginia, Worcester County Sheriff's Dept., Maryland State Police, Worcester County State's Attorney Beau Oglesby- (I've forgotten many) ALL fit into the equation of fighting crime together. And it shows!

MAY 1 - 31, 2012

05/01/2012 While conducting routine patrol in the area of Fifth Street and Young Street Pocomoke City Police observed a vehicle traveling with an inoperative tail light. Upon stopping the vehicle, the Officer was notified the operator’s license was Suspended. Arrested was Shadae Harmon, age 18 of Pocomoke MD. She was issued a citation for Driving on a Suspended license and released.

05/02/2012 Pocomoke City Police received a call for a fight in progress in the 200 block of Laurel Street. Upon arrival Police observed three people walking away from the area. As Officers approached the individuals they became belligerent and started yelling profanities towards the Officers. Arrested was Kane Cottman, age 23 of Pocomoke MD. Cottman was charged with intentionally harm/threaten/damage property with the intent to retaliate against a victim or witness for giving testimony in an official proceeding. Also, arrested was Keith Gray, age 21 of Pocomoke MD. Gray was charged with Disorderly Conduct.

05/07/2012 Pocomoke City Police arrested Justin Curtis, age 21 of Pocomoke MD. Curtis was charged with Possession of Paraphernalia. Curtis is pending trial.

05/05/2012 While conducting radar detail in the area of Eighth Street Pocomoke City Police observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed through the area. Police initiated a traffic stop, upon contact with the operator Police learned her license was Suspended. Arrested was Jennifer Hughes, age 21 of Westover MD.

05/08/2012 Pocomoke City Police received a complaint in reference to violation of an interim protection order. Upon arrival Police made contact with the victim of the order who advised she was having problems with the defendant of the protection order. The suspect has returned to her residence after being served the interim protection order and was escorted off of the property. Arrested was Dennis Howell, age 25 of Pocomoke MD.

05/08/2012 Pocomoke City Police arrested Derrick Collick, age 22 of Philadelphia PA. Collick was charged with 2nd degree Assault, Reckless Endangerment and 1st degree Assault. The charges were related to an incident that occurred on April 9, 2012. Collick was held at the Worcester County Detention Center on $75,000 bond.

05/11/2012 While conducting patrol on Route 13, Pocomoke City Police observed a vehicle travel over the white center lines of the highway several times. Upon contact with the operator of the vehicle Police could detect a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage upon his breath. After further field sobriety tests were conducted and failed. Arrested was Jonathan Hernandez, age 45 of Salisbury, MD. Hernandez was charged with Driving Vehicle While Impaired by Alcohol, Driving Vehicle Under the Influence and other traffic related citations.

05/11/2012 While conducting Seatbelt Enforcement detail in the area of Market Street, Pocomoke City Police observed an individual not wearing their seatbelt. Upon contact with the operator Police learned their license was Suspended. Arrested was Joseph Nelson, age 21 of Snow Hill MD.

05/14/2012 While conducting radar detail in the area of Route 13 & Sheep-house Road; Police observed a vehicle traveling 70 mph in a 55mph zone. Upon stopping the vehicle Police learned the operator’s license was Suspended. Arrested was Darrell Martin, age 53 of Cambridge MD. He was charged with Driving on a Suspended License.

05/17/2012 While conducting routine traffic detail in the area of Linden Avenue; Police were alerted from their License Plate Reader of a Suspended Driver. After comparing the photos from MVA to the License Plate reader the Officer was able to positively identify the driver. Upon contact with the operator police verified their license was suspended. Arrested was Marcus Hamilton, age 28 of Deal Island MD.

05/17/2012 Pocomoke City Police received a call for Theft of cab services rendered. Upon contact with the victim Police learned the cab driver transported the suspect from Fruitland MD to Pocomoke City. The suspect tried to exit the cab without paying his required fare. Arrested was Michael Edmondson, age 22 of Beltsville, MD.

05/17/2012 Pocomoke City Police received a complaint in reference to drug activity in the area of Fourth & Second Street. Upon arrival Police observed the vehicle matching the description given by the complainant. A traffic stop was initiated on the vehicle. Upon contact with the driver Police could detect an odor of alcohol upon his breath. The suspect was given several field sobriety tests which were all failed. Arrested was Jeffrey Myers, age 47 of Pocomoke MD.

05/18/2012 While conducting traffic detail in the area of Route 13 & Ocean Highway; Pocomoke City Police stopped a vehicle for failing to move their vehicle in the far lane while the Officers vehicle was on the side of the road as required by the State of Maryland. Police initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle. Upon contact with the driver Police learned their license was Suspended. Arrested was Maria Curtis, age 25 of Mount Holly, NJ.

05/19/2012 While conducting routine Patrol in the area of Route 13 Pocomoke City Police observed a vehicle traveling with expired registration stickers. Police initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle. Police made contact with the driver who stated to the Officer he did not have a license. After further investigation the Officer conducted a search of the vehicle. Upon searching the vehicle Police located a 2 inch long knife, a glassine baggie containing suspected CDS, and several other CDS Paraphernalia devices. Arrested was Donald McCall, age 52 of New Church, VA. McCall was charged with CDS Possess-NOT Marijuana, CDS Possession Paraphernalia, False Statement to Police, Driving unregistered Motor Vehicle, Driving uninsured Motor Vehicle, and other traffic charges. McCall was held on $5,000 bond. David Dickerson, age 39 of Mappsville VA was charged with CDS Possess-NOT Marijuana and Eddie Savage, age 48 of New Church VA was charged with CDS Possess-NOT Marijuana.

05/21/2012 While conducting routine traffic detail; Pocomoke City Police observed an operator driving without a seatbelt. Upon stopping the vehicle the Officer learned the operator had a Suspended License. Arrested was IBN Brown, age 28 of Newark New Jersey.

05/23/2012 While conducting routine patrol Pocomoke City Police observed a vehicle traveling with expired registration stickers. Upon stopping the vehicle the Officer learned the driver had a suspended license. Arrested was Harry Johnston, age 59 of Atlantic VA.

05/26/2012 Pocomoke City Police responded to Fourth Street Pocomoke City to attempt to serve an Arrest Warrant for Baltimore County. Upon arrival Police located the suspect; the Warrant was confirmed for Failure to Appear. Arrested was Jeraldine Narman, age 47 of Jacksonville FL.


05/28/2012 Pocomoke City Police received a call to respond to the area of 1018 Lynnhaven Drive for a Violation of Protection Order. Upon arrival Police learned the victim had obtained a Protection Order for the suspect to stay away from her and her residence. The suspect continued to call and text her as well as come to her residence. Arrested was Terrance Gale, age 29 of Pocomoke MD.

05/30/2012 Approximately 1930hrs, Members of the Pocomoke City Police Department, Criminal Enforcement Team & The Worcester County States Attorney Office executed a search and seizure Warrant at 1902 North Old Mill Drive, Pocomoke City MD. Arrested was Toan Chi Huynh age 26 of Pocomoke City, MD. The following items were recovered from Mr. Huynh residence:

- 1,207 grams of Marijuana (High Grade)
- 61 grams of Powder MDMA
- 16 tablets of Ecstasy MDMA
- Various items of paraphernalia to include commercial heat sealer and scale
- $1,075 in US Currency
- 2 Flat screen TV’s
- 2007 Honda Civic
- Other miscellaneous documents
Huynh was charged with the following charges:- Possession of Marijuana
- Possession with intent to distribute Marijuana
- Possession with intent to distribute Marijuana (School Zone)
- Possession with intent to distribute powder MDMA/Molle
- Possession with intent to distribute powder/Molle (School Zone)
- Possession of Ecstasy/MDMA
- Possession with intent to distribute Ecstasy/MDMA
- Possession with intent to distribute Ecstasy/MDMA (School Zone)
- Possession of Paraphernalia

SURPRISE!! You've Been Busted!!

I have taken the liberty to separate this new story from the others sent to me by the Pocomoke City Police Department.

Here's another successful drug bust in the city of Pocomoke where some say the law isn't doing their job! I'm going to argue that fact with anyone and will continue until you are convinced you have been totally wrong. Let me adise you that carrying out a drug bust can be risky business and the main reason it seems to take so long to get something done is simply because it takes great skill and perfect timing to enter someone's world and blow it all apart.....

Pocomoke City now has the best law enforcement team it has ever had. Pocomoke City now employs a chief that has had many years of  experience and I challenge anyone to walk in his shoes. Since he has arrived in Pocomoke City the police department has had a vast change not only in moral but in training. They are no long good at what they do. They are GREAT!.

The best thing to happen to Worcester County is Sheriff Reggie Mason and Worcester County State's Attorney Beau Oglesby. The Criminal Enforcement Team consists of individuals from the various law departments in Worcester County and the state of Maryland.  Their work is done sometimes under cover and each one is highly trained in the investigations of any type of criminal activity.  And let it be known that changes were made shortly after the last election in Worcester County.....Worcester County now works side by side with Accomack County.  Accomack County works with the Pocomoke City Police Dept. 

Having all three teams: Pocomoke City Police Department, Sheriff Mason's Crimminal Enforce Team, and Worcester County State's Attorney Beau Oglesby working together only makes for a more successful arrest and a safer world around us all. jmmb

Here is a part of what the current Chief Kelvin Sewell says about his first days in Pocomoke.  New to Pocomoke, and a Lieutenant with the Pocomoke City Police Department  at the time, he had an experience that we all think nothing of.....a simple wave of the hand. 

"I was standing outside the Pocomoke City P.D., waiting for a car, I think.  As I stood there waiting, I noticed someone across the street waving.  Instinctively I turned around to see who the person was waving to.

Suddenly I realized the woman was waving at me.

......That's what crossed my mind when I waved back at the woman in Pocomoke City.  It was a good moment:  I felt like I was a part of something, a community.  That they trusted me."

I hope by now you have read the book and have a true appreciation for what he has  written.  Pocomoke is like no other town.  And Baltimore, even with the beauty that is there, is just different. 

I, for one, appreciate the way Chief Sewell feels about the town  I grew up in.  I miss Pocomoke and times  and I'm only a few miles away.  And  it's always nice to run into him whenever I am in Pocomoke to take photos....because I'm certainly not going to be there to commit a crime!

A few days ago, while  driving by the police department  I stopped on Second Street to yell a "hello" to  Chief Sewell.  Councilman Malloy was with me since we were headed to the new restaurant to take photos.  Teasingly,  I offered the  Chief the opportunity to ride along in the back seat....the windows are tinted and no one would be able to see him.  He declined so I shared my freshly picked local strawberries with him. 

And then on the way home I thought about the woman in his book that had waved to him those few months ago. And I recalled what he had written that led to his confusion in a simple wave.  I actually felt a little  sad for the Chief.  He's probably never been offered  strawberries like that before....  Probably the only thing from a car window he has ever witnessed is a gun.  That's really sad.  Wish I had left the whole quart!

Honestly, Chief Sewell is a wonderful person, is doing a remarkable job and he does like Pocomoke!   Be sure to give him a big wave.

All of you locals have seen the new sign in front of the soon to be Police Station.  It looks wonderful and I like where it has been placed.    Cameras have been placed on the building and from what I could tell on the inside too. 

When they make the move from Second Street to Market  Street  the department  will probably the   have  much needed new furniture and supplies already in place.   Pocomoke City Council, at the last meeting,   approved a certain  dollar amount of  to go towards new items.

4-1-2012         Pocomoke City Police were conducting routine traffic control in the Pocomoke area when the Officer received an alert on the vehicle with his registered license plate reader. A traffic stop was initiated to confirm the information received on the LPR. The driver Keyana Kellam, age 24 of Princess Anne, MD was issued a traffic citation for failure to provide insurance information on the vehicle and failure to provide current registration card. Kellam received citations for the violations and was released upon her signature pending trial.

4-3-2012         Pocomoke City Police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for an equipment violation. Once the Officer ran all of the information it was discovered the driver did possess a Suspended License. Sheron Purnell, age 40 of Berlin, MD was issued a traffic citation for Driving on a Suspended License. She was released upon her signature pending trial.

4-4-2012        Pocomoke City Police responded to a Shoplifting complaint at Wal-Mart Supercenter in Pocomoke City. Upon arrival Police discovered the suspect had concealed several items in her purse without paying for the merchandise and attempted to pass all points of sale. Arrested was a juvenile, age 15 of Pocomoke City. Pocomoke Police contacted the Department of Juvenile Services and she was released to a parent/guardian.

4-5-2012       Pocomoke City Police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for an equipment violation. Police ran the information on the driver which resulted in a Suspended License. Patrick Richards age 23, of Pocomoke City was issued a State Citation for Driving on a Suspended License. Richards was released pending trial.

4-6-2012       Pocomoke City Police were conducting routine traffic control in the Pocomoke area when the Officer received an alert on a vehicle with the registered license plate reader. A traffic stop was initiated to confirm the information received on the LPR. The driver Deandra Bivens, age 28 of Pocomoke City was issued a traffic citation for failure to provide insurance information on the vehicle and failure to provide current registration card. Bivens received citations for the violations and was released upon her signature pending trial.

4-6-2012       Pocomoke City Police were conducting routine traffic control in the Pocomoke area when the Officer received an alert on a vehicle with his registered license plate reader. The driver Katie Herbst, age 24 of Pocomoke City, MD was issued a traffic citation for failure to provide insurance information on the vehicle and failure to provide current registration card. Herbst received citations for the violations and was released upon her signature pending trial.

4-8-2012       Pocomoke City Police were conducting routine traffic when they discovered a vehicle driven by a possible Wanted person. Upon contact with the driver it was confirmed to be the Wanted Person. Arrested was Martel Blake age 19, of Pocomoke City. Blake was arrested and transported to the MSP Barrack.

4-9-2012       Pocomoke City Police received information on a Wanted subject. Pocomoke City Police located the suspect. Arrested was Travis Bailey, age 22 of Princess Anne MD for Violation of a Protection Order.

4-11-2012       Pocomoke City Police responded to a Trespassing complaint at the Pocomoke City Wal-Mart. Upon arrival Police learned the suspect had been ordered by the District Court Judge not to return to Wal-Mart property due to being found guilty of a previous Theft. Arrested was Vicki Jo Agnew Outten age 47 of Princess Anne MD was arrested for Trespassing.

4-12-2012       Pocomoke City Police were conducting a routine Foot Patrol in the area of Bank Street Pocomoke City. Once Officers conducted a foot patrol of the Church Street area Officers immediately detected a strong odor of marijuana illuminating from the area. Police approached a subject and immediately smelled an odor of marijuana and inquired of his personal information at which point the suspect fled on foot which led to a foot pursuit by the Police. Once apprehended the subject was placed under arrest. Arrested was Kentrell Savage age 22 of Pocomoke, MD. Savage was charged with CDS Possession of Marijuana and Resist/Interfere with Arrest.

4-12-2012       Pocomoke City Police were conducting an investigation when an individual approached them and started causing a disturbance. The suspect started to yell profanities and ignored the Officers request to step away from the scene. Arrested was Jeffrey Wright age 27, of Pocomoke MD. Wright was charged with Failure to obey a Lawful Order and Resist/Interfere with an Arrest.

4-12-2012       Pocomoke City Police were conducting special patrol of the Pocomoke area when Officers noticed an individual walking down the street acting suspicious. The Pocomoke Police stopped to conduct a field interview on the subject. Upon the subject giving Police permission to conduct a search the Pocomoke Police located Marijuana. Arrested was Robert Dolby Jr, age 22 of Pocomoke MD.

4-13-2012       Pocomoke City Police received a call for a Shoplifter that had just left the Dollar General store. Police were able to locate the suspect with the description given. Pocomoke Police approached the suspect and noticed a bulge in his pants. Police then conducted a search for Officer Safety and did locate the item that was reportedly stolen. Arrested was Maurice Bishop age 53, of Pocomoke MD.

4-13-2012       Pocomoke City Police were conducting routine traffic control in the Pocomoke area when they observed a vehicle being operated by a driver who they knew to possess a Suspended License. Upon confirming the information the Pocomoke City Police initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle. The driver Robert Branch age 29 of Pocomoke MD was issued a citation for Driving on a Suspended License and released upon his signature pending trial.

4-13-2012       Pocomoke City Police were conducting routine traffic detail when the Officer observed an individual drive through a red light. Police initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle possessed a Suspended License. The Driver Raul Vazquez age 32 of Kings Island Georgia was issued a citation and released pending trial.

4-14-2012       Pocomoke City Police responded to a Domestic Assault call. Upon arrival police learned the victim had been assaulted by an estranged boyfriend who gained access into her apartment without permission. Arrested was John Thomas age 25, of Pocomoke MD. Thomas was held on $10,000 bond pending trial.

4-14-2012       Pocomoke City Police were conducting traffic enforcement in the Pocomoke area when they observed a vehicle run a stop sign. A traffic stop was initiated; upon contact with the driver the Officer learned the driver possessed a Suspended License. Arrested was Rodney Harmon age 49, of Waldorf MD. He was issued a citation and released pending trial.

4-15-2012       Pocomoke City Police responded to a complaint for removal of person. Upon arrival Police located an individual who was advised previously to leave the business. The subject was acting Disorderly and causing a Disturbance. Arrested was Marian Glaspey age 44 of Monroeville, NJ.

4-15-2012       Pocomoke City Police responded to an Assault complaint. Upon arrival a Juvenile had assaulted an adult over a dispute they were having. Arrested was a Juvenile age, 15 of Pocomoke MD. The Juvenile was referred to the Department of Juvenile Services.

4-18-2012       Pocomoke City Police were conducting traffic detail in the Pocomoke area when they observed a vehicle with a rear tag light out. Upon contact with the driver the Officer could detect a strong odor of alcohol and slurred speech. The Officer performed several field sobriety test, based on the results. Arrested was James Brady age 43 of Pocomoke MD. Brady was charged with Driving while under the influence of alcohol and driving while impaired by alcohol.

4-18-2012       Pocomoke City Police responded to a Trespassing complaint. Upon arrival Police located the suspect walking on property with posted No Trespassing signs. Arrested was James Allen age 46, of Pocomoke MD. Allen was issued a Criminal Citation and released.

4-23-2012       Pocomoke City Police responded to a Domestic Assault complaint. Upon arrival Police met with the victim who stated she was assaulted by her boyfriend before he left in her vehicle without her permission. Upon further investigation the Pocomoke City Police Officer obtained a Warrant on the suspect for Reckless Endangerment, 2nd degree Assault and Motor Vehicle Unlawful taking. Arrested was Eddie Neal age 30 of Pocomoke MD.

4-23-2012       Pocomoke City Police were conducting routine traffic detail when the Officers License Plate Reader recognized a vehicle traveling with a Suspended Insurance violation. Upon stopping the vehicle the Officer learned the driver had Suspended License. Arrested was Calvin Jones age, 36 of Pocomoke MD. Jones was charged with operating a vehicle with Suspended License.

4-24-2012       Pocomoke City Police responded to an Assault complaint. Upon arrival police located a victim on the sidewalk with injuries. The victim stated he had been stabbed with an unknown object. Upon further investigation Police located the suspect who assaulted the victim. Arrested was Willie Blackmon age 64, of Pocomoke MD. Blackmon was charged with Assault 1st degree, Assault 2nd degree. He was held on $10,000 bond pending trial.

4-24-2012       Pocomoke City Police responded to a Burglary complaint. Upon arrival Police learned that a business had closed for the evening; the owners were still inside the restaurant when they noticed someone walking in the storage area of the building. The victim stated no one should be in the restaurant as it was closed. The victim stated they looked in the back storage area and located someone hiding up on the ladder. The victim recognized the suspect to be a past employee. Upon further investigation Police were able to positively identify the suspect as being in the restaurant after it was locked and closed. Arrested was Michael Acevedo age 27, of Pocomoke MD. Acevedo was charged with Burglary 2nd degree, Burglary 4th degree and Trespassing. Acevedo was held on $50,000 bond pending trial.

4-25-2012       Pocomoke City Police responded to Wal-Mart for a Theft complaint. Upon arrival Police discovered the call was for Internal Theft of merchandise on several occasions totaling a loss of approximately $2,730. Arrested was Breon Lamar Ayres age 23, of Mappsville VA. Ayres was charged with Theft $1,000 to under $10,000 and Theft Scheme $1,000 to under $10,000.

4-24-2012       Pocomoke City Police served a Warrant on Derrick Hall age 22 of Pocomoke City for Assault 1st degree, Assault 2nd degree and Reckless Endangerment. He was taken before the Commissioner and released on $10,000 unsecure bond pending trial.

4-29-2012       Pocomoke City Police were conducting traffic detail in the Pocomoke area. Police observed a vehicle operating without any working tail lights on the driver’s side of the vehicle. Upon approaching the driver the Officer could smell a strong odor of alcohol. After failing several field sobriety test the driver was placed under arrest. Arrested was Thomas Wilson age 22, of Parksley VA. Wilson was charged with Driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under the influence per se and driving vehicle while impaired by alcohol.

4-29-2012       Pocomoke City Police responded to a call for an alcohol violation. Upon arrival Police learned an individual was attempting to purchase alcohol with a fake id. Police observed the ID to be fake and the person in possession of the ID was not the person listed on the MD ID. Arrested was Jose Nik age 23, of Temperenceville, VA. Nik was charged with possession of a fake ID and underage alcohol violations.

4-29-2012       Pocomoke City Police responded to a Disturbance complaint. Upon arrival Police located two individuals arguing in the roadway. After Police ordered the individuals to quiet down and go their separate ways, one of the suspects refused to cooperate with the Officers orders. Arrested was Loynial Sturgis Age 32 of Pocomoke MD. Sturgis was charged with Disorderly Conduct and Failure to Obey a Lawful Order.

It had only been 7 days since I last visited what would be the new Pocomoke City police station to take photos.  But while I was in Pocomoke Councilman Malloy and I decided we really should get another peek....actually, it was my idea, I guess,  since I am so nosey.

WOW!!  What a difference just a few days makes!

Have you ever watched paint dry?  Watching floor wax dry is just about as exciting but with people you like, who engage in good conversation it isn't bad at all.  That 20 minute wait flew by in no time...Worth the wait. 

Thank you Mike Brady, of Peninsula Floor Service, for allowing us to walk across your newly waxed floor.

What a shine!  You may need your sun glasses...I'm not kidding.What was once dull gray tile  only a few days ago has enough shine now to see your reflection!

( Words of Kelvin Sewell taken from his book  "Why Do We Kill?")  Now, Darren  has enlightened me in so many ways concerning  what has taken place in this soon to be police station.  The discussion about this room:  I say TWO chairs- because I read the book.  He says could be THREE chairs- depending on who is in "the box" at the time of interrogation. (He hasn't had time to read the book - he's been here!) 

So, I thought about it.  I looked the paragraph up in Chief Sewell's book when I got home.  Okay, Darren.  You win.  A couple could mean two or more- so I'll give you the three.  (But how odd was it when I opened the book and found that I had marked that page with an expired monthly GO PASS from the Baltimore MTA).  Here is how I feel about that room........I will NEVER sit there to be interrogated!  The only table I EVER intend to be seated at is a table that is surrounded by my  friends and family  waiting to partake in a meal!

All cells are completed.  The beds have been bolted to the floor, cots put in place and ready for occupancy really soon.  This is the female holding cell....NO bling! 

So, on this trip everything seemed to be just about wrapped up and ready for the "white glove" test.  Restrooms and showers have been cleaned.  And I'm sure by this writing the floors have been buffed. (What if I told you I left my toe print in a corner in that building?)

Anyway, I was able to show the police chief a photo of the shiny floors....(I like to always be first). But it made his day and when I left that day he made sure I had my cell phone. (For those that don't remember: the first time Chief Sewell and I met I accidently left my cell phone in his office.  Embarrassed?  ME?  Hell, yes!)

But anyway, the Second Street police department that so many of us have known for many years....the walkway that my son, as a small boy,  would ride his bike up and coast down when he could get away with it will soon be history.  I never realized it until I walked down the stairway and out those black doors that I never go photos of the inside...the stairway...

But here is what I want you to do when you visit the new police station.  Please take full advantage of your reflection in the windows on the end of the building.  Take time to fix you hair and straighten your cap so you look nice when walking inside.  And once inside WIPE YOUR FEET!

POCOMOKE CITY POLICE

March 10, 2012 to March 16, 2012

3-11-2012      Pocomoke Police Officers responded to the Newtowne Apartments in Pocomoke City for a reported trespasser. Upon arrival Pocomoke Police were notified by witnesses that the suspect was across the street from the complex. Officers located Maranuita Holland, 47, of Snow Hill, MD who was previously ordered to not return to the property. Holland was placed under arrest for "Possession of CDS paraphernalia".

3-12-2012      Pocomoke City Police while on routine patrol observed a Chrysler Town & Country Van that had been reported stolen earlier in the morning at approximately 1:26 AM. Officers made contact with the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle identified as Darius Ronald Cox, 22, of Pocomoke City, MD. Cox was placed under arrest and charged with "Unauthorized Use of Motor Vehicle", Unauthorized Removal of Property", "Driving without a Required License" and "Driving a rented Vehicle in Violation of Rental Agreement". Cox is currently being detained at the Worcester County Jail on $10,000 bond.

3-15-2012      Pocomoke Police Officers responded to Second Street involving a disturbance. Upon arrival, a 17-year-old female juvenile was found to be intoxicated and extremely belligerent. The juvenile was placed in the patrol vehicle for her safety due to being unable to walk on her own at which time she became violent and started kicking the windows of the patrol vehicle and Officers on the scene. The juvenile was arrested and charged with 2nd Degree Assault. She was released to Juvenile Services.

March 4, 2012 to March 8, 2012

3-04-2012    Pocomoke City Police were called to the scene of a disturbance at the Bonneville Apartment complex. Upon arrival Officers observed David Martin Brickwood, Jr., 23, of Pocomoke City, MD was intoxicated and creating a disturbance to residents and assaulted a victim who lives within the complex. Brickwood was arrested and charged with Assault 2nd Degree, Disturb the Peace, Disorderly Conduct and Resisting Arrest. Brickwood was taken before the Commissioners and released pending trial.

03-07-2012    Pocomoke Police Officers while on routine patrol observed a vehicle being operated by a driver not being restrained by a seatbelt. Upon contact with the driver, the Officer conducted a wanted check which indicated an open Warrant through Salisbury Police Department for several traffic charges. Matthew Ryan Windsor, age 21 of Snow Hill, MD was arrested and taken before the Commissioner pending trial.

Longtime Crisfield Drug Dealer Is Sentenced

Pocomoke City Police Partner With Crisfield Police Department:

*On May 26, 2011 Chief Kelvin Sewell, then Lt Kelvin Sewell along with Pocomoke City Police Officer Savage traveled to Crisfield MD to assist the Crisfield Police Department with an ongoing drug problem they were experiencing in the area of the Somers Cove housing area.

Chief Sewell and Officer Savage were able to purchase crack cocaine from a known drug dealer who was identified as Andre Fisher of Crisfield, MD. The purchase was made at the residence of Mr. Fisher who resided at the Somers Cove housing in Crisfield, MD.

On March 6, 2012 (today)Chief Sewell, Officer Savage, Lieutenant of Crisfield Police Department, and other Crisfield Officers appeared in Circuit Court in Princess Anne MD for trial. After the testimony of each Officer was given, the Defendant Andre Fisher was found guilty and sentenced to 20 years in prison.

Mr. Fisher then became highly upset and began using profanity towards the Officers and then spit in the direction of the Judge. Mr. Fisher was wrestled to the floor by the Somerset County Sheriff’s Deputies and then carried out of the courtroom.

(Fisher will serve 10 years of 20 years in prison. Ten years of the 20 were suspended.)

Arrests – February 4, 2012 to February 12, 2012

02/04/2012 Pocomoke Police Officers initiated a traffic stop for speeding. Upon contact with the driver, Tawana Deshonda Jones, 33, of New Church, VA was found to be in possession of a suspended license. Jones was issued a State Citation and released pending trial. The vehicle was removed from the scene by a licensed driver.

2/06/2012 Pocomoke Police Officers arrested Terelle Lorone Murray, 32, of Pocomoke, MD who was found to be wanted on a Worcester County Warrant for "Failure to Appear". Murray was arrested, processed and taken before the Commissioners and released under conditions pending trial.

2/06/2012 Pocomoke Police Officers initiated a traffic stop during a Seat Belt Enforcement Detail. Upon contact with the driver, Mitchell Thomas Crosby, 47, of New Church, VA was found to have a suspended license through Virginia DMV. Crosby was issued a State Citation and released pending trial. The vehicle was removed from the scene by a licensed driver.

2/08/2012 Pocomoke Police Officers during an investigation of a theft of a 4-wheeler arrested and charged a 15 year old male juvenile from Pocomoke City, MD. The juvenile was charged and released to his parents pending trial.

02/09/2012 Pocomoke Police Officers located a Dana Rene Boyer, 27, of Pocomoke City and arrested her under an active Warrant for Theft.

02/10/2012 Pocomoke Police Officers initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle displaying expired registration tags. Upon contact with the driver, Constance Rena McCarthy, 25, of Pocomoke City, MD was found to also be in possession of a suspended license. McCarthy was issued State Citations and released pending trial.

2/10/2012 Pocomoke Police Officers responded to a fight in progress in the area of Fifth & Walnut Streets. Upon police arrival, several subjects ran from the area. While attempting to speak with an individual he failed to follow police orders and fled from the scene. The subject was apprehended on Fourth Street. Arrested and charged was a 16-year-old male juvenile. The juvenile was released to family pending trial.

2/10/2012 Pocomoke Police Officers during routine patrol were alerted to a vehicle with an active DMV Pick-Up Order for Insurance violations. Amanda Ann Biggins, 44, of New Church, VA was charged and issued State Citations.

2/12/2012 Pocomoke Police Officers were called to the scene of an accident at the intersection of Route 13 & Route 113 in Pocomoke City, MD. Upon arrival Officers spoke with both drivers and found no injuries; however the driver of the at-fault vehicle was found to be under the influence of alcohol and was arrested and charged with DUI and other traffic related charges. The driver was identified as George Oswald Finney III, 22, of Parksley, Va.
